43 years ago today, I put on a pair of navy color pants and a white polo, as instructed by my future boss Tony Hernandez, and went to the PortMiami offices of Paquet Cruises with my dear friend (and sister from another mother) Mariana for my first job interview. I impressed him in the interview as he immediately said “you’re hired” and the rest is history!

In my 43 year career I have worked at many cruise lines: Paquet French Cruises (82-86),and Epirotiki Lines (93). I then took a 10 year hiatus and worked on the other side of the industry at a travel agency, tour operator, and cruise only agency. I returned to the cruise industry when I joined Oceania Cruises in 2005 and spent almost 20 years there until I was laid off this March due to a restructure. Luckily after a short and temporary retirement, on June 9th I joined a new cruise line, Aman at Sea and I am loving this new opportunity.

Thank you to all the wonderful people I have crossed paths with during the past 43 years including colleagues, guests and travel partners. Many have become part of my extended family. A very special thanks to Tony and Mariana for making it all happen! Plus a special thank you to all of the amazing leaders that have guided me through my successful career especially Ed (at Paquet & Dolphin/Majesty); Frank, Victor, Bob, Howard and Frank Jr (at Oceania) and now Jonathan & Victor (at Aman at Sea). I am forever grateful for their leadership, guidance and the opportunity they have given me. 🥂🍾⚓️⛴

Yesterday at a gathering with my Aman at Sea family (yes it already feels like a family), Jonathan our President and CEO presented this gift to me and the other newbies. It’s one of the keel laying coins of our ultra luxury motor yacht, Amangati. I’m so appreciative of receiving this special commemorative gift which I will add to my cruise ship memorabilia collection.

Soon, it will expand its offering beyond land with the launch of Aman at Sea’s inaugural ship, Amangati—a 47-suite luxury motor yacht, reshaping ocean exploration and marking a new era in maritime adventure.
