🚨 Industry Update: New English Proficiency Rule Going Into Effect 🚨

Starting June 25, drivers who cannot sufficiently read or speak English may now be placed out of service, per a new addition to the CVSA North American Standard Out-of-Service Criteria.

This change enforces existing FMCSA regulations (49 CFR 391.11(b)(2)) under an executive order and allows inspectors to remove drivers from service if they’re unable to communicate with officials, read traffic signs, or complete records in English.

Whether you're a driver, dispatcher, or fleet manager, understanding CVSA's North American Standard Inspection Levels is key to staying compliant and avoiding unnecessary downtime.

Here’s a quick breakdown:
✅ Level I: Full inspection – driver & vehicle (most thorough)
👣 Level II: Walk-around – driver & vehicle (no under-vehicle check)
🗂 Level III: Driver credentials & logs only
🔍 Level IV: Special one-time inspection (usually research-related)
🚚 Level V: Vehicle-only (no driver present)
☢️ Level VI: For shipments of radioactive/hazardous materials
🚌 Level VII: Jurisdiction-specific (e.g., school buses, taxis)

🚛 Stretch It Out: 3 Stretches to Beat Back Pain After Long Hours Behind the Wheel

Sitting for hours can turn your back into a pretzel (and not the good kind 🥨). Protect your spine, boost your energy, and feel better with these quick stretches every driver should know:

1️⃣ Standing Backbend

Stand tall, hands on your lower back, gently lean backward.
Hold for 10-15 seconds.
Why? Reverses the "hunched" driving posture and opens up your chest.

2️⃣ Seated Figure-4 Stretch

Sit on the edge of your seat, cross your right ankle over your left knee, and gently lean forward.
Hold 20 seconds, switch legs.
Why? Loosens tight hips and eases lower back pressure.

3️⃣ Doorway Shoulder Stretch

Find the side of your truck, put one arm at a 90-degree angle against the door, and gently twist your body away.
Hold 15 seconds each side.
Why? Opens tight chest muscles and resets your posture.
👊 These take less than 3 minutes but can save you HOURS of pain down the road.
