Here is an album of pictures from the Shichigahama International Association about the "Plymouth House", a museum about Plymouth's history and culture. It also covers the history of our 25 year relationship!

We've posted about it before, and how it's a replica of the original First Parish Church in Plymouth! It's very humbling to see a place so far away build a museum dedicated to our town. In the original post, they talk about eating cranberries for the first time! Very cool!

七ヶ浜でプリマスのハウスについて読みますください！

皆さんもご存知かとは思いますが、七ヶ浜の姉妹都市はアメリカ、マサチューセッツ州にあるプリマスです！姉妹都市条約が結ばれたのは、今から24年前の1990年10月になります。Wow! Time flies so fast! 時間がたつのは本当に早いですね～。私NSが初めてプリマスを訪れたのは、1992年の夏。七ヶ浜訪問団の1人としてプリマスを訪れました。その後高校2年生の時、プリマスノースハイスクールに留学し今に至ります。あー本当に懐かしい。スポーツ大好きNSは秋はサッカー部、冬はバスケ部、春はソフトボール部（アメリカの学校では運動部はシーズンごとに変わります。）に所属し、英語は話せませんでしたがスポーツをすれば友達が出来るはず！と言い聞かせ友達作りに励んだことを思い出します。も、もちろん勉強もたくさんしましたよ～。17歳の私には本当に良い経験でした。プリマスでの経験そして友人達がその後の私の約7年間のアメリカ生活を支えてくれていたと思います。そんな機会を与えてくれた七ヶ浜とプリマスに感謝です！恩返しとまではいきませんが一人でも多くの人にプリマスを知ってもらいたいという思いから、SIA6月マンスリーイベントは、プリマスをみんなに知ってもらおーう会を開催しました。

七ヶ浜国際村には、プリマスハウスがあります。皆さん入ったことありますか?私も久しぶりに入りましたがとても立派ですよ。国際村の受付の方に声をかけて頂ければ中を見学することができますので、是非行ってみて下さいね。

プリマスハウスを見学しながら子供達にもなぜ1620年9月イギリスからアメリカに人々が渡ったのか、その人たちが乗ってきた船の名前（メイフラワー号）や、当時の人々はどの様な暮らしをしていたのか等、少し難しいお話もしました。それからクランベリーのお話もしました。またプリマスハウスの中には七ヶ浜の国際交流の歴史を知ることが出来るものがたくさん展示されてます。本当に素晴らしいですね。

さあ、セミナー室に戻ってプリマスハウスで勉強してきたことの〇✕クイズです！でも一つだけ、難しい問題を出しましたよ。皆さんもわかるかな?　

Q) プリマスノースハイスクールのマスコットは、わし（イーグル）である。
〇か✕か、さあどっちでしょう？

答えは・・・〇です！アメリカの高校や大学では学校ごとに、スクールカラーとマスコットが決められています。マスコットは楽天イーグルスと同じですが、スクールカラーはネイビー・ブルー、ホワイト、シルバーです。プリマスサウスハイスクールのマスコットはひょう（パンサー）で、スクールカラーは、ブラック、ティール（青緑）、ホワイトです。Go Eagles! Go Panthers!

〇✕クイズの商品は、SIAベーカリー担当MSが作ってきてくれたクランベリーマフィンとオーシャンスプレー社のクランベリージュースです。マフィン最高でした！クランベリージュースは子供たちにとってはちょっと渋かったようです。私はもちろん好きですよ～。
