This surely is a creepy looking man, but they say he's the most famous man in West Virginia.
Am I the first Amish man to get a photo with Mothman?

Please join us in wishing a happy retirement to our longtime Director, Denny Bellamy, after 23 years with the Mason County Convention & Visitors Bureau!

Denny started with the CVB just a few days before the Mothman Statue was dedicated in 2003, and since then, has been instrumental in marketing and promoting the county to visitors. In the years since, he has:

-Supported over 100 television shows and documentaries filmed in the county
-Interviewed on hundreds, if not thousands, of news and radio broadcasts about upcoming events and projects
-Worked with Mason County Career Center graphic design teacher (and Mothman Museum owner, and his childhood friend) Jeff Wamsley and his students to develop the Mason County Visitors Guide, a design we are still using today
-Installed the countywide quilt trail
-Worked on the Riverfront Park project as a Board Member of Main Street Point Pleasant
-Helped lead the development of the PPHS Sports Complex
-Worked to promote regional tourism as a Co-Founder and Board Member of the Rivers to Ridges Heritage Trail
-Steadfastly supported the River Museum, Farm Museum, Tu-Endie-Wei, and other attractions in the county, along with all of the festivals

But most important, he kept the faith. Over the 23 years, there were so many doubters who didn’t see the potential in the Mothman, and more who doubted the need for a hotel here. After a record breaking 278,000 visitors last year, there are few doubters left.

The Tourism Bureau will continue, and Denny has left it a lasting legacy. Fortunately, he won’t be far away for those who will continue his work if they have questions, and there are still projects that he would like to see through, like next year’s inaugural Power Armor Festival. But we’ll still miss always hearing that laugh in meetings!
