Calling all artists, graphic designers, art students, or folks who just have a good eye and love downtown!

Main Street Point Pleasant is hosting a public design competition to design our new logo, which will be the official logo for the Downtown District going forward. We've had several logos through our 37 years, and it's time for a refresh. The winner will receive a cash prize of $500 along with Main Street merchandise branded with their winning logo. Entries are due to us by July 31st.

Complete eligibility information, rules, entry procedures, and information on Main Street's history and projects can be found at the link below, along with some inspiration from other Main Street communities nationwide.

For this , we don't have to go back too far. These photos are from the 1996 Civil War reenactment on Main Street, commemorating the 1862 and 1863 raids on Point Pleasant, when Union soldiers defended the courthouse from Confederate General Jenkins' cavalry. For many years, this event was a regular feature downtown.

Did you know...? Main Street is more than just the place where great festivals happen. We just finished up our 2026 Business Inventory, and across 66 businesses, nonprofits, and government offices based downtown, there are over 724 regular employees! Add in construction workers, festival vendors, contracted marketing and program-related jobs, food services and suppliers, and hotels and other business supported by our Mothman tourism, and Main Street supports well over 2,000 jobs annually.

If you haven’t been in Willas Bible Bookstore WV lately, you need to stop by and see them! They’ve been fully remodeling the entire store (which is beautiful 😍), and still have everything that you’ve loved about their store for decades. And, they added an America 250 section in the front for this year’s celebrations!

🎉 Big news! 🎉

In partnership with American Express, Main Street America has announced more than 500 recipients of the Amex Shop Small® Grants Program, awarding over $10 million in funding to small businesses across the country. Each recipient has received a $20,000 grant to help them grow, innovate, and support their local communities.

One of these grants was awarded to Point Pleasant's very own Handley Law Office. Tanya Hunt Handley works most of the cases in Mason County involving abused and neglected children, and this grant will allow her to renovate a portion of her office into a kid-friendly space, providing them a better environment during some difficult situations. If you know the Handleys, you know that their very first date was Main Street's 2005 Sleighbell Ball, and they haven't missed one since. They are big supporters of our downtown, and we're proud to see them receive this grant!

This grant brings Point Pleasant up to THREE national small business grants this year, the other two being $10,000 grants to The Mason Jar and What's The Scoop Point Pleasant W.V. in February.

PSA: Portions of Main Street will be closed to traffic Wednesday, May 20th to potentially Friday, May 22nd. Contractors will be cutting the street to bring in the new water line for the restaurant going in on the corner of 3rd & Main.

If you are driving down Main Street, you will exit via either 4th Street (Gunn Park) or through the River Museum parking lot to Viand. Access to the lower blocks of Main Street via 3rd will remain open.
