One year ago, at this hour, Kathy and I were walking into the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale. For the most part I could not walk up a flight of stairs without being winded. We walked up two flights of stairs to the Emergency room and checked in
I remember talking to the Dr. for about 20 minutes, then have no memory for 4 days until I woke up. They replaced my mitral valve. It has been an interesting recovery, but today I am at the se resort we were at a year ago, but instead of being winded, I took a 3 mile walk. Everything is much better this year.

In November of 1994, Kathy and I decided to by a Cessna 172 and start Blue Goose Aviation so I could help/teach people to fly. In 2004, after retiring from the Air Force, we added our self flying guided adventures. Over the years we have worked and met 100's of excellent clients and flown 1000's of hours. Many of our clients have become personal friends and we are very grateful for these friendships. After 31 years of doing this we have decided to slowdown a little and will be selling 3 of our airplanes. I still plan on flying, and working with pilots in their airplanes, but will not be renting our airplanes anymore. We are keeping the 182 and going back to using the airplane for our enjoyment and travel purposes. So you may find us more often in the back country camping, or flying around the state to different towns to play golf. Hamilton, Ft Benton, Thompson Falls, Three Forks, come to mind quickly for that, We have guided tours as far north as Alaska, and southeast into the Bahamas. We would like to thank everyone we have worked with and hope to see many of you again soon. THANK YOU!

To qualify for a scholarship, the applicant must be a current WAI member through March 30, 2026, or join as a new member by October 1, 2025.
Applications must be submitted to WAI by 11:59 p.m. EDT on October 15, 2025, and winners will be notified by December 15, 2025.
Recipients will be awarded during the 37th Annual Women in Aviation International Conference in Dallas, Texas, from March 19-21, 2026.

Blue Goose Aviation had 3 airplanes, 3 instructors, and 5 students fly from Polson to Great Falls and back on Saturday. Made it a fun school outing with training for the day. While on the ground in Great Falls we parked at Great Falls Jet Center for Great service, then went to Fords Drive in for cheese burgers, fries, and shakes, then off to view the Falls, and ending with a hike at Giant Springs at the shortest river in the country. Making training fun and informative.
