Eating healthy at Disney World

Having diet restrictions while on vacation… especially a vacation in Disney World can come with massive challenges.

Disney is incredible about accomodating guests who have gluten, nut, dairy, etc. allergies… but my diet removes most carbohydrates and sugar… so it was a little more difficult to find satiating meals.

If you’re in the same boat, here’s what I did. I looked for dishes with proteins and a side a vegetables. If the dish came with a carb, I asked them to sub with more veggies and the CM was always willing to accommodate.

I ordered a huge salad at Sanaa and found a great “bowl” at the Mara that was mostly protein, fat and veggies. And I didn’t want to miss out on breakfast at Topilino’s Terrace, so I opted for the steak and eggs. The CM said there were no vegetable substitutes so I just ate the steak and the eggs, as best as I could. I also found bowls at Coronado springs that were made with riced cauliflower instead of rice! Win!

All we can do is try when we are on vacation and I think I was pretty successful in my efforts! I also saved some money by only eating 2 meals a day and no snacks.

Of course, I always started my morning with a cup of coffee, and that was my treat!

The monster will be joined by Dracula, the Wolf Man, and other legendary creatures in what promises to be one of the most thrilling and terrifying rides yet!
