🚨 Florida Residents: New State Laws Are Taking Effect July 1 🚨

Florida is rolling out several new laws that could impact everyday life across the state, from shopping and driving to schools and consumer protections.

Here are some of the biggest changes Floridians should know about:

🪙 Cash Transaction Rounding
Florida has approved new guidelines allowing cash purchases to be rounded to the nearest nickel if pennies become unavailable in circulation. Credit and debit card transactions are not affected.

🐾 More Freedom for Pet Owners
Veterinarians will now be required to inform pet owners they can request written prescriptions and fill medications at outside pharmacies if they choose.

🚜 New Protection for Farmers
Florida is strengthening consumer protections for agricultural equipment owners by creating additional accountability for manufacturers when major equipment defects cannot be repaired properly.

🛣️ Tougher Penalties for Repeat Driving Violations
The state is increasing enforcement measures tied to habitual traffic offenders and repeat unlicensed driving violations.

🎓 Changes for Florida Students
New graduation flexibility rules will allow certain extracurricular participation, including marching band and Special Olympics activities, to help satisfy specific school requirements.

🏥 Expanded School Seizure Response Plans
Schools will be required to improve emergency preparedness and staff awareness for students with seizure disorders and epilepsy.

🔒 New Privacy Rules for Body Camera Footage
Florida is adding stronger privacy protections involving body camera footage recorded inside private residences during code enforcement activities.

Florida lawmakers say many of these changes are designed to improve consumer rights, public safety, and government transparency.

As always, residents should review official state resources for complete details on how these laws may affect them personally or professionally.

The moment you know your day is about to get weird in Florida is when you spot a creature standing somewhere it absolutely shouldn’t be…
Not in the water.
Not in the bushes.
Right in the middle of the sidewalk like it pays property tax.
Except in Florida… it’s not a goose.
It’s a gator.
You slow down, hoping it’ll move. It doesn’t.
You take a step to the side, trying to go around. It slowly turns its head like, “go ahead… try it.”
You suddenly remember you don’t actually need to be anywhere that badly.
The gator just sits there. Calm. Unbothered. Sunbathing like this is its front porch and you’re the one trespassing.
And then the realization hits:
This isn’t a standoff.
This is its sidewalk.
No warning honk. No dramatic wing flap.
Just silent prehistoric confidence.
People from other places think gators are rare.
Floridians know better.
Gators aren’t rare.
They’re part of the commute.
They don’t chase you out of anger…
They just remind you who was here first.
So you do what every Floridian does:
You back up slowly.
You pretend you were just out for a casual walk anyway.
You reroute your entire life path without question.
Because the truth is simple:
In Florida, the gator doesn’t move for you.
You move for the gator.

Welcome to FL highways

70 MPH speed limit in Florida is less of a rule and more of a polite suggestion that nobody agreed to follow.
Too slow? You’re getting tailgated by a lifted F-150 with LED headlights bright enough to interrogate you. Too fast? Doesn’t matter — there’s already a guy in a beat-up Altima doing 95 weaving through traffic like he’s late for something extremely illegal.
You try to hold a respectable 75.
Immediately passed on both sides.
One car has no headlights.
Another has its hazards on for no reason.
Somehow both are going faster than you.
And then, out of nowhere…
Brake lights.
Not gradual. Not polite.
Just a full interstate-wide decision to stop existing for 30 seconds.
No accident. No construction. No explanation.
Just vibes.
You finally get moving again and think, “Okay, we’re good.”
Wrong.
Now it’s raining.
Not normal rain. Florida rain.
The kind that erases the road, your mirrors, your sense of direction, and any belief you had in visibility. Wipers on max, still losing the fight. Meanwhile, someone flies past you doing 85 like they’ve got sonar.
And just when you think you’ve seen it all…
There’s a gator in a retention pond right next to the highway, watching traffic like it’s judging your driving choices.
No toll booth warning. No buildup. Just vibes and consequences.
Your GPS says “arrive in 2 hours.”
Florida says, “Depends… you surviving the storm or the drivers?”
And somehow, through all of this…
There is STILL someone camping in the left lane going exactly 70 like they’re honoring the Constitution.
Welcome to Florida highways.
Where speed limits are optional, weather is aggressive, and every drive feels like a group project with people who did not read the instructions.

When you ask for a reasonable bid from a contractor, ask yourself, was his work truck bought at today’s reasonable prices? When he went shopping for food, do you think his grocery bill was reasonable? When he bought your supplies, do you think they were of high quality and reasonably price? How about his shop or storage rent, I haven’t seen anything reasonably priced around here for years. There are guys willing to work for cheap, you can always roll that dice if you want to. Tho i think its important to understand we are not living in a reasonably priced world. It’s extremely expensive to survive, much less thrive as a business today.

Dear Floridians,
We are going to be ok!
I have put together some quick tips for those who aren’t sure how they are supposed to navigate this weekend’s unholy cold weather.
● Wear real shoes. Your flip flops will have to fend for themselves for a few days. They will be okay.
● Socks! Wear them. Preferably with real shoes. Still a no on the flip flops.
● Put the doors back on your Jeeps, FFS.
● Consider pants. The extra fabric may feel a tad foreign at first, but you gotta power through.
● Stock your fridge now. Publix will be closed. Assume a record number of employees will call in dead. They’ve never been this cold before, and will believe they have passed.
● You've likely never noticed it but there is a setting on your AC unit at home that makes it blow out warm air. Use it. Look for a little fire symbol or the word H E A T
● There is also a similar function for the ac in your car… and turn off the seat AC feature.
● Umbrella. Use an umbrella if you do venture outside. Not for rain, it will help you avoid head injuries caused by frozen iguanas falling from trees. Those suckers are heavy.
● Bring all those orchids inside immediately. A couple hours in that kind of cold will kill them dead in an hour just like it will you if you don't stay inside your house.
● That soft warm chewing gum thats always in your car will now be harder than rock. Please don't break a tooth.
● DON'T use your Evian face spritz outside. It will freeze to your face and you'll have little ice cycles hanging from your new lashes.
● Wash your hair now. You’re not going to this weekend. Perhaps pick up some dry shampoo on your way to pick up the last Publix sub of the week.
● Take deep breaths, you got this. No deep breaths on Saturday though. You’re lungs aren’t used to air that cold. They will collapse… best hold your breath until Monday
Florida, may the odds be ever in your favor... 🤣🤣🤣
