Today we had the pleasure of taking Zach Ward and his family from Melissa, Texas, out on the water for an early Father’s Day celebration!

The fish kept us busy throughout the trip, but the real excitement came early at Seawolf Park when a pod of dolphins decided they wanted in on the action. More than once, we’d hook a fish and suddenly the drag would start screaming as a dolphin grabbed hold and took off with our catch! The dolphins made several blistering runs with hooked trout, peeling drag and putting on a show that had everyone laughing and cheering.

A few times they finally spit the fish back out, leaving us with battle-scarred trout bearing fresh dolphin bite marks—a souvenir and fish story all rolled into one! One determined dolphin even made a last-second grab right beside the boat before giving up the prize.

While the trophy fish managed to stay hidden today, the rods stayed bent, the dolphins kept us entertained, and memories were made that this family will be talking about for years to come.

Thank you, Zach and family, for choosing Capt. Doc’s Fishing Charters to celebrate Father’s Day a little early. Days like today remind us that some of the best catches aren’t always measured in pounds—they’re measured in smiles, laughter, and stories you’ll never forget.

What a great afternoon on the water with an amazing family! 🎣

Today we had the pleasure of hosting two recent Texas A&M PhD graduates who were celebrating their accomplishments with a graduation vacation, along with their proud parents visiting all the way from Canada! 🇨🇦🇺🇸

The fish put on a show, the rods stayed bent, and everyone went home with a big bag of fresh fillets. More importantly, memories were made that will last a lifetime. By the end of the trip, there were plenty of smiles, a few sore arms, and lots of stories to tell!

We’re especially honored to welcome our very first international guests aboard Capt. Doc’s Fishing Charters. Thank you for choosing to spend part of your vacation with us, and congratulations again to the new PhD graduates on an incredible achievement!

God is good, and days like this remind us how blessed we are to meet such wonderful people from all over the world.

Today was a special one aboard Capt. Doc’s Fishing Charters! 🎣

We had the pleasure of taking a brother and sister from Minnesota and Carthage, Texas out on the water for a day of fishing, laughter, and making memories together.

One moment that really stuck with me was when she shared that this was the first fish she had caught since she was 8 years old! Seeing that smile and excitement come right back after all those years is exactly what this business is all about.

The fish are great, but the memories made with family are what last a lifetime. Thank you both for spending part of your day with us and allowing us to be a small part of your story.

What a day!

Today we had the pleasure of taking the Herrera family from Ponder, Texas out on the water on my very first day as a full-time fishing charter captain. We had to work for them, but we managed to put together a good mixed bag of fish, wear out a few muscles, and most importantly, make some great memories.

Just a few days ago, I wasn’t sure what the future held. Today, I was doing what I love, spending time with great people, and watching God’s plan unfold in ways I never could have imagined.

I’m humbled, grateful, and blessed beyond words for the support of my family, friends, and customers who continue to trust me with their time on the water.

God answers prayers. ❤️🎣

Today was one of those trips that reminds me why we started Capt. Doc’s Fishing Charters in the first place.

This afternoon we had the privilege of taking a sister and her brother, who is living with Alzheimer’s, out on the water. We stayed close to home, enjoyed the beautiful weather, watched the wildlife, shared stories, and simply enjoyed being together on the Texas coast.

Sometimes the best trips aren’t measured by the number of fish caught, but by the memories made. Seeing a family spend quality time together, away from appointments, worries, and everyday stress, is something special.

After the trip, his sister left this review, and it truly touched my heart:

“Capt. Troy was wonderful with my brother. He made sure he was comfortable, included, and having a great time. The trip created memories our family will cherish.”

As a former firefighter, paramedic, and nurse, serving people has always been part of who I am. Being able to continue doing that from the deck of a boat is a blessing I never take for granted.

Thank you for trusting me with such a special day. These are the trips that matter most.
