Sometimes living 27 hours away from your paradise is really a curse! We’ve been dealing with getting our brand new (late Jan. ‘25) dryer fixed as it clunked out mid Feb. ‘25. Part on backorder until today, May 29, delivered! Repair tech comes tomorrow, we might have a working dryer soon!

The past 3+ weeks has tested my patience. The morning we were leaving our Villa Luke, I washed our towels, linens only to have the old “laundry center” deposit black greasy dots on everything!
I spent hours searching and calling appliance shops trying to arrange removal of the old and installation of the new. No one called back. Evidently, they don’t need the work. I finally got a live body on the phone and purchased a new, compact stackable. Delivery, installation and disposal of old unit was scheduled only to have them be “unable to remove” for fear of breaking something and being liable.
The coordination effort from 27 hours away is a challenge! Luckily my husband is basically “McGyver”, and I ended up booking him a Th-Su flight to get the job done! Thank you to our guests who were there through this for your patience and understanding.
Thank you to my amazing husband whose super powers include fixing anything!!!

Day 6-walked to the bait store in the morning, baby It’s cold outside! Jerry fished at our pier but nada for cold morning fishing. I thoroughly enjoyed spending the day at our FL place…cleaning, touch up painting, setting the place for our winter guests, better learning about how things work here! So nice to have this time. Jerry fished the afternoon and it got late, I went looking for him. Panic stricken, nowhere to be found, until I spotted him on the bridge sidewalk talking to another fisherman.
Dinner in, using up our food, enjoying our last evening at Villa Luke! All cleaned and set for our Winter guests!

Day 4 and 5-we checked out the nearby bait shop, shopped at Ace Hardware- let me tell you Ace Hardware in FL ROCKS! It’s a full on Boutique with NICE clothing and shoes, not to mention shoes!
Ate dinner at Laishley Crab House with a high school friend. Delicious and the view of Charlotte Harbor is spectacular! My hubby discovered that a panel of our lanai glass was separated from the frame. Eek, they’re huge! We removed the first one to get to the one that needs repair…dicey! Lifted the loose one out and got it down sideways, without it shattering! Hubs screwed the frame back together…phew! Cleaned it and it’s safely back in place and operational. Dang my hubby is GOOD!
Enjoyed a dinner with family 2 nights while we’ve been here! Thank you to Robin/Derek and Becky/David❤️! Luv our FL family!

Day 2 and Day 3-ran into some glitches, like the old popcorn ceiling literally detached from sheetrock in certain areas, scraped off all loose crap, sprayed texture and moved on. Upon removing tape, the loose paint and wall texture decided to peel off too! Oh joy, let’s paint that wall too! A few more small projects before we go back to 🥶 in the frozen tundra!

post hurricane; hire window cleaners ASAP, don’t wait 2 mos.
Visitor; got to meet Miss Megan today, our Property Mgr! In person! Really appreciate her, her honesty and dedication.
Also; I am super jealous at our renter scheduled for 35 days Feb-Mar! I wish we could spend that much time here!
