Among the area’s many beach spots, Lakeport State Park Day-Use Area is a solid choice right on Lake Huron with an expansive park area. It's only 10 miles north of downtown Port Huron, and two miles south of the state park campground.

If you're visiting on the weekend, try Lakeshore Smokehouse a mile away. It's one of the most unique outdoor dining spots along the coast.

TRAVEL TIP: You’ve got two parking lot options at the day-use area, east and west. We're team east because our commitment to convenience is stronger than our commitment to cardio. The east lot is a 1/4 mile north of the west lot.

Port Hope is “The Little Town With the Big Welcome,” but don't let its size fool you; there's a lot to see, so make plans to stop by. The town is on Lake Huron along M25 between Harbor Beach and Port Austin.

If you’re stopping in Port Hope this summer, a few things we’d recommend checking out are the Lumberyard Museum, open every Saturday and filled with local history and unexpected finds like a working 1950s milking parlor, restored mail buggy, and a handmade one-seater airplane; the old train depot and caboose; a fun little mercantile shop; and ice cream stop; and just outside town, the Pointe aux Barques Lighthouse, with tower tours, Great Lakes history, and spectacular shoreline views.
