The 10¢ Trolley Tour has officially entered its Saturday-only era.

The tour starts at the downtown Blue Water Transit Station, 720 MCMORRAN BLVD., at 12PM and makes a loop. You can also pick it up in front of the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel lobby at the Blue Water Convention Center by the Blue Water Bridges around 12:45PM, 1:45PM, 2:45PM, 3:45PM.

Dear Summer,
You were amazing! Although you're still here for two more weeks, we're unpacking the flannel because the fall show is coming!

While peak color typically comes around mid-October, we’ll start seeing the first hints of fall as early as mid-September. And with Michigan's Thumbcoast stretching from shoreline to countryside, there’s no shortage of beautiful places to take it all in. So prepare yourself for pumpkin-flavored things.

The Sand Point Nature Preserve: A Natural Attraction
Not far from Caseville, there's a 220-acre preserve with wetlands, woods, and bird-friendly habitats along Wild Fowl Bay in Saginaw Bay, Lake Huron, that is not well known and is very serene.

ECOTOURISM TIPS:
🌱 If you brought it in, take it back with you.
🌱 Stick to the trails; ecosystems are fragile.
🌱 Leave nature as it is; it may be a critter's home.
🌱 Wild animals are not down for snuggles.

BIRDING:
These are the top birds spotted in August 2026, according to eBird.
Pied-billed Grebe
Wood Duck
Great Egret
Green Heron
Belted Kingfisher
Double-crested Cormorant
and the Canada Goose, AKA Flying Alligator. This one is not as exciting to us....

Trek the Trestle Bridge: A Labor Day tradition for 18 years!

If you’ve never walked across the 640-foot Mill Creek Trestle, this is a fantastic opportunity to check it out. Sitting 60 feet above the creek, the trestle is the centerpiece of the 12-mile historic Wadhams to Avoca rail trail, and it’s every bit as impressive as you’d expect.

The Trek the Trestle event covers a 5-mile round trip, but you can go as far as you want at your own pace.

📍 Meet Monday Sept. 7, 2026 at 9AM, Wadhams to Avoca trailhead parking lot at Main St. and Avoca Rd., Avoca, 19 miles northwest of Port Huron on Michigan's Thumbcoast.

This might be the quirkiest roadside BBQ place in all of Michigan, and they've taken outdoor dining to a whole new level!

Port Crescent State Park in Pictures.

At the tip of Michigan’s Thumbcoast, Port Crescent State Park feels like one of those places you stumble across and immediately wonder why you didn’t find it sooner. Think forested dunes, three miles of Lake Huron beach, campground, and a ghost town trail.

There’s also a Birds of Prey Observatory Deck and a designated 24/7 year-round Dark Sky Preserve for stargazing and, if the universe is feeling generous, a chance to catch the northern lights dancing overhead. And the very best part, you can see a sunrise and sunset over Lake Huron.
