WARNING: Booking a fishing charter in your future? Three times in the past month, while at the boat docks waiting for my clients, I have come across people standing around looking for and/or waiting for their Charter Captain and boat, which was super later, did not come at all or was not what they thought they were getting. In all three cases people had booked their trip with a third party online booking agent and they were not given the proper direct contact information to communicate with their Charter Captain. In one case it turned out the “Captain” wasn’t even licensed or insured.

This is bad stuff for so many reasons, can quickly ruin your day and leave you standing at the dock! You must be able to communicate with your Charter Captain directly days before your trip and the morning of. Also, if your Captain can not show you a valid Captains license by the USCG, you do not want to get on that boat. Whenever possible, book your trip local, book direct and do a little research to know who you are getting on board with. When I am booked up, I will always have a bunch of recommendations for other top notch local Captains to recommend. If you are fishing somewhere other than the Ponce Inlet area, I can help with that also. Just ask. 😎
