For years we’ve dreamed of finding a place somewhere along the many miles of Florida's coast line, hidden away from the noise of the crowds, where a person could escape and enjoy the peaceful solitude of the coast, interrupted only by the sound of waves gently washing up on the sand. ou're reading this, you may already know THERE IS SUCH A PLACE! We are located on a stretch of water southeast of 30A beaches, in a coastal community with golf cart and bike paths, multiple boardwalks accessing the beach, and a small "city center" to ensure that while you enjoy the coastal beauty of "Old Florida", you're also close enough to civilization that you don't feel like you're in "survival" mode. Our little community is a place where modern conveniences haven't tarnished the unspoiled beauty of the coast. Here you can enjoy amenities like a large community pool, a mercantile for necessities and/or cocktails, beer on tap, libations to go, and live music on the weekends, ocean views from our community restaurant, some of the best pizza you'll find in Florida, a candy and ice cream shop, a fitness center (for fee), and still walk a few hundred feet to beaches where pelicans are more common than parasails, and sea turtles still make their nests. With the belief that anything worth having requires sacrifice, we took the plunge to make this place a home and we are so excited to share this treasure with you. We believe it has all been worth it and we think you'll agree once you visit. This place is worth it - worth the time, worth the effort, and worthy of the name we gave it - Worth the Coast!

In mid January, I got a chance to spend some time at the beach house as it was empty and temperatures dipped below freez...

In mid January, I got a chance to spend some time at the beach house as it was empty and temperatures dipped below freezing for a day or two. So I made sure the pipes didn't freeze and everything stayed in working order. Mostly the weather was nice, so I was able to walk on the beach and do some walk/jog workouts to get the year started off on the right foot. On one of my workouts, I intentionally finished a couple of miles up the beach, and took my time walking back to the house. I came upon this log which I think was custom made for sitting and thinking deep thoughts.
As I sat there feeling so grateful to be in such a beautiful place, I thought about how important it is to use the gifts you've been given to the best of your ability. January has already passed quickly and time continues at such a surprisingly fast pace, it's easy to lose sight of what is important. It's people, not things that mean the most, and I am so grateful that we have a venue to meet together in such a beautiful place like this, where the sea just seems to draw the stress out of your body, and the peaceful solitude plays on like a familiar soundtrack against the backdrop of the calming waves.
My focus this year is on self control... because I think almost all of the things that are meaningful require it. Self control is required to ignore something you want right now for something better later on. I read today that self control or discipline reveal the commitment you have to your dreams.
I believe that to be true, and I believe it spans across all areas of life. I've found that if I get lazy or weak physically, then it also affects me psychologically and emotionally. And the opposite is true. My entire outlook is better when I hold myself to a high standard, and that's how I've started this year off. Another thing I read that rung true to me today, "The future you is depending on the current you to keep the promises you made to yourself yesterday." So far... just over a month into 2024, I'm doing ok. How about you? Hopefully everyone is off to a great start! I think it's about time for me to go back and sit on that log again and do some more deep thinking.
