Eight years ago today, Hurricane Michael forever changed our little piece of paradise. October 10th is a day that will always be remembered by those of us who call the Forgotten Coast home.
Today, our hearts are a little heavier as we reflect on what our community went through eight years ago while watching our neighbors to the west face the aftermath of another hurricane.
While we are incredibly thankful our area was spared this time, we know all too well what so many families and communities are going through right now. The fear, the heartbreak, the uncertainty, and the overwhelming feeling of not knowing where to even begin.
We will never forget the people who showed up for us after Michael. The strangers who became friends, the helping hands, the prayers, and the communities that came together when we needed them most. Those are the things that carried us through some of our darkest days.
As we count our blessings today, we are also reminded just how quickly life can change and how important it is to show up for one another.
To our neighbors to the west, please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We know the road to recovery can be long, but we also know the strength and resilience of our Gulf Coast communities. You are not alone. ❤️
