It never gets old watching the coming and going in Portland Harbor — a timeless part of our waterfront! 💙

Ferry service in Casco Bay dates all the way back to the 1800s, when steamships like the Island Belle ferried people, mail, and supplies to the islands. 🚢✉️

In 1919, Casco Bay Lines officially formed to keep the island lifeline strong. Over the years, ferries like the Aucocisco III, Island Romance, and now the Machigonne II and Wabanaki have carried generations of islanders and visitors alike. 🛳️

In 1981, the service became publicly owned under the Casco Bay Island Transit District, making sure the boats would always be there — year-round — no matter the weather. 🌧️❄️☀️

🎟️ One local favorite? The Mailboat Run — a scenic, working cruise that delivers mail and freight while treating passengers to some of the best views in Maine!

Next time you're cruising with us, keep an eye out - you might spot one of these hardworking boats heading to Peaks, Chebeague, Long, or Cliff Island. And now, you’ll have a little history to share!

🌧️ Nor’easter in May? Only in Maine! 🌬️🌲

With this recent Maine storm being called a nor’easter, we figured it’s the perfect time for a little weather wisdom—and a reminder that we’re still pumped for the weekend! All our tours are running, rain or shine. 💪🧭

While nor’easters are famous for dumping heavy snow, rain, and whipping winds across New England, did you know they actually form off the Southeast U.S. coast - often near the Carolinas? They strengthen as they head north, feeding off cold northern air and warm Atlantic moisture. ❄️🌊

They’re most common from September to April, but of course... this is Maine. So naturally, one decided to crash the party in late May. 😄 No worries we don’t let a little weather stop the adventure. See you out there! 🌦️🚶‍♂️🚴‍♀️🛶
