The 2026 Rockefeller Center Christmas tree has been selected. A 76-foot Norway spruce from West Edmeston, a small town in Chenango County in central New York, will travel about 200 miles south to Manhattan, Rockefeller Center announced Monday.
The tree, estimated to be about 75 years old, stands 50 feet wide and weighs roughly 11 tons. It was donated by Rebecca Decker and found by Erik Pauze, Rockefeller Centerâs head gardener, who has been selecting the tree for more than 30 years.
The spruce will be cut down Nov. 5 and transported to Midtown Manhattan, arriving at Rockefeller Center Plaza between Fifth and Sixth avenues on Nov. 7. A âMeet the Treeâ event with family activities, giveaways and photo opportunities is planned for that day.
Once in place, the tree will be wrapped with more than 50,000 multicolored, energy-efficient LED lights strung across five miles of wire and topped with its signature 900-pound Swarovski crystal star, which was designed by architect Daniel Libeskind in 2018.
The tree lighting ceremony will take place Dec. 2 during the live NBC broadcast of âChristmas in Rockefeller Centerâ at 7 p.m.
