Is a cruise vacation right for you?

Here’s a breakdown to help you decide:

Why cruises are a great idea
1. Super easy travel (low planning stress)
Everything is bundled in one place:
- Hotel (your cabin) You basically unpack once and relax while the “hotel” moves you around
- Transportation between destinations
- Food and entertainment

2. You see multiple places in one trip. Instead of staying in one city, you can visit several stops in a single vacation—often different islands or countries—without constantly repacking or booking transport.

3. Food + entertainment are included. Most cruises include:
Unlimited meals (buffets + restaurants), shows, music, comedy, pools, gyms, activities
This makes it feel like a floating resort with constant options.

4. Good value for the money (sometimes). When you compare it to paying separately for hotels, food, and transport, cruises can be surprisingly cost-efficient—especially for families or groups.

Downsides to know
1. Short time in each place.
You often only get a few hours in each destination, so you don’t deeply explore most places.

2. Crowds + “everyone together” feeling. Ships can hold thousands of people, so popular areas can feel busy.

3. Extra costs add up. Even though it feels “all-inclusive,” things like drinks, Wi-Fi, excursions, and tips often cost extra.

4. It’s not for everyone. Some people love the structure; others find it repetitive or too controlled.

So… are cruises worth it?

Yes, if you like:
- Easy, low-planning vacations
- Visiting multiple destinations quickly
- Entertainment + resort-style travel

Maybe not, if you prefer:
- Deep exploration of one place
- Independent, flexible travel
- Quiet, uncrowded environments

If a cruise vacation is for you, give us a call we'll book the right cruise for you.

San Antonio has a really distinct personality—you get a mix of deep history, lively culture, and a relaxed, welcoming vibe that’s different from most big Texas cities.

One of the biggest draws is The Alamo. It’s not just a famous landmark; it’s central to Texas identity and tied to the Texas Revolution. Even if you’re not a history person, seeing it in person gives context you don’t get from books.

Right nearby is the San Antonio River Walk, which is honestly one of the most enjoyable city spaces in the U.S. It’s lined with restaurants, shops, and shaded walkways along the water—great for wandering, eating, or just people-watching, especially at night when it lights up.

If you like culture, the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park offers a quieter, more immersive look at Spanish colonial history than the Alamo alone. And for art and local flavor, the Pearl District has become a hotspot with boutiques, food halls, and weekend markets.

Food is a huge reason to go. San Antonio is a core part of Tex-Mex culture—think fresh tortillas, breakfast tacos, and dishes you won’t find the same way elsewhere. It’s also a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, which says a lot.

The vibe is another plus: it’s slower-paced than cities like Austin or Dallas, but still has plenty to do. People tend to be friendly, and it’s relatively affordable compared to many popular travel spots.

And if timing works, events like Fiesta San Antonio bring the whole city to life with parades, music, and food.

If you’re deciding whether it’s your kind of trip, it helps to think about what you want most—history, food, nightlife, or just a chill getaway. San Antonio leans more toward culture and atmosphere than fast-paced partying.

If you’re drawn to dramatic landscapes, Iceland delivers—waterfalls, volcanoes, glaciers, and long stretches of untouched nature. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel small in a good way.

Iceland is a small island nation in the North Atlantic, known for its raw, dramatic landscapes and a culture shaped by isolation, nature, and resilience.

What makes it special - Iceland feels almost otherworldly. In a single day, you can see:

1. Active volcanoes and vast lava fields
2. Massive waterfalls like Gullfoss
3. Glaciers covering about 10% of the country
4. Black sand beaches along the south coast

It sits on the boundary between tectonic plates, which is why geothermal activity is everywhere—geysers, hot springs, and steaming geysers.

Want to travel to Iceland? We can help you plan your trip.

Air travel isn't always fun and the time spent in an airport can be exhausting. It seems we always rush to get there only to wait.

If you really look around airports themselves are strange little worlds. You can have a beer at 7 a.m., sleep on the floor without judgment, and hear five languages in a single line.

Although they have tried to improve airports over the years here is one airport that took it to another level.

If you ever travel through Changi Airport in Singapore they have turned the airport into an art form, with indoor waterfalls, gardens, and even movie theaters—basically making the “waiting” part of travel feel like a destination.

You may never get the opportunity to travel through Changi Airport however airports don’t have to feel like dead time—you can turn them into a surprisingly enjoyable part of the trip if you treat them like a mini destination instead of a waiting room.

Try gamifying the experience a bit, here's a few ideas:

1. Try people-watching and invent backstories (surprisingly entertaining if you commit to it)

2. Set a “mission” like finding the best snack under $10

3. See how efficiently you can navigate the terminal or find the quietest corner

Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Battle of Puebla (1862), when Mexican forces defeated the French army in the city of Puebla.

It wasn’t a huge turning point in the war overall, but it became a symbol of:
- Resistance against foreign invasion
- Mexican national pride
- Unity in the face of a much stronger military force

In the U.S., Cinco de Mayo has become much more widely celebrated than in most of Mexico.

Do you celebrate Cinco De Mayo? Share in comments below if you do and how?

In my last post I asked you where you visited that surprised you. Paris was the place that surprised me. It was never on my bucket list but once I was there I feel in love with the city.

Visiting Paris isn’t just about checking off landmarks—it’s about experiencing a city that does a lot of things exceptionally well, all in one place.

You get world-famous sights (that actually live up to the hype). Standing under the Eiffel Tower or walking through the Louvre Museum feels different in person. These aren’t just tourist traps—they’re genuinely impressive in scale, history, and atmosphere.

The food culture is on another level. Paris is one of the best cities in the world for eating well, whether you’re spending $5 or $200. Simple things—fresh bread, pastries, cheese—are taken seriously. Even a random neighborhood café can outperform restaurants in many other countries.

It’s packed with art and history.
From medieval architecture like Notre-Dame Cathedral to centuries of paintings, sculptures, and design, the city is basically a living museum. If you enjoy history at all, it’s hard to get bored there.

It’s made for wandering.
Neighborhoods like Montmartre or Le Marais are best explored without a plan. You’ll find hidden streets, bakeries, bookstores, and small parks just by walking.

It’s easy to navigate. The Paris Métro is cheap, fast, and extensive. You can see a lot in a short trip without needing a car.

The vibe is hard to replicate.
There’s a reason Paris has a reputation for romance and atmosphere. Sitting by the Seine River, watching the city at night, or just people-watching from a café hits a certain mood that’s tough to find elsewhere.

That said, it’s not perfect—crowds, prices, and occasional rudeness can be real downsides. But if you go in expecting a big, busy global city (not a flawless postcard), it tends to deliver.

Travel isn’t automatically life-changing—but if you do it with some intention, it can shift how you see the world and your place in it in ways that are hard to replicate at home.

One of the biggest reasons is perspective. When you spend time somewhere different—even another U.S. or a completely different country—you start to notice how many things you take for granted are just “one way” of living, not the way. That can make you more flexible, less judgmental, and better at adapting.

It also breaks routine. Most people run on autopilot: same places, same conversations, same habits. Travel interrupts that. You’re forced to pay attention again—figuring out directions, trying new food, noticing your surroundings. That mental reset can make you feel more present and, honestly, more alive.

Take that leap, get out of your comfort zone and travel!
