On October 13th we finished our season of cruising and our season in life of working on the Columbia River. Todd started guiding and presenting on boats there in 2003, and over the past 18 years, worked for five different companies that plied the waters of both the Columbia River and the Snake River. In conjunction with running our own company, High Point Tours, I was able to join him for many years on cruises of those beautiful rivers and also of Alaska. It has been a good season in our lives, but we are happy and excited to begin a new one, that will take us to some new places, provide opportunity to visit old friends and make new ones, get better acquainted with our community in Colorado, and spend precious time with family.

So although you may see Todd featured in the American Cruise Lines catalogs and advertisements for 2022 / 2023 cruising seasons, he is officially retired and will no longer be onboard.

It has been a great experience. Many thanks to all of you who have cruised with us over the years.

I surprised Todd with this funny, but quite perfect t-shirt!😄

It's a beautiful day in Hood River, OR. We are on our second to last week on the Columbia River. Some great folks onboard, as always. Our very last week starts next Wednesday, and we are excited about the new chapter ahead of us. It has been a good run of seeing beautiful and interesting places, meeting fascinating people and making friends along the river that we have gotten to know over so many years of cruising this route. This week we have six people onboard who have traveled with us numerous times throughout the past. It has been so good to catch up and once again spend time together. We look forward to our drive home, staying in a cabin along the Little Salmon in Idaho, then in Twin Falls and in Green River, UT, to just relax and celebrate retirement. Grateful for the experiences and for all that is ahead for us. More time with family and friends and to explore new places we've not yet seen.

We've done four weeks of cruising on the Columbia and Snake Rivers for American Cruise Lines this year, two in May and two in June. We'll be heading out this week to do two more. It's going well, the boat is lovely and the sights are always interesting and beautiful. We look forward to seeing some familiar faces who will be joining us on some of the cruises, folks we have traveled with before. We'll then work two more weeks in September and two final weeks in October. Then...... we may acyually retire!!🙂

Right now it is looking like we will be cruising the Columbia and Snake Rivers in May. We will be on the new American Cruise Lines boat The Harmony. We look forward to seeing some favorite places and people again.

Hi Friends!
Been awhile since we've posted, with Covid and all. Been quite a year for everyone.
We are keeping our hopes up that the Washington and Oregon "powers that be" will open up the Columbia and Snake Rivers to river cruising again. Since all the cruises were cancelled in 2020 and we didn't get to do our final year, we have agreed to come back onboard for 10 weeks in 2021, in hopes American Cruise Lines will once again be plying the waters of the great Columbia. It is SUCH a beautiful river with so much to see and learn. The Covid numbers continue to go down and the venues are beginning to open up, so consider joining us! We will be only on the newer vessel, The Harmony, and every week we are on will have a Lewis and Clark emphasis:

Cruising Dates for 2021 on The American Harmony:

5/12 Starting in Clarkston, WA
5/19 Starting at Jantzen Beach,OR

6/9 Starting in Clarkston, WA
6/16 Starting at Jantzen Beach,OR

7/21Starting in Clarkston,WA
7/28 Starting at Jantzen Beach,OR

9/1 Starting in Clarkston, WA
9/8 Starting at Jantzen Beach,OR

9/29 Starting in Clarkston, WA

Message us with any questions. Let's hope for the best!!

On the last leg of our work season. Heading to Colorado this coming week to soon meet up with the wonderful folks who have traveled with us so many times over the years. You all have made it happen! You kept us writing and running tours to beautiful and amazing places. Thank you for your ongoing encouragement, support and friendships. It has been a great journey! We look forward to a week of fun and laughter, gorgeous scenery and being with friends.
From the tour we head back to the Columbia River for two last cruises, ending mid October. Then it's time with the grandkids!!
Next year we have only eight cruises scheduled. We are looking forward to full retirement by winter of 2020.
We look forward to spending more time with family and friends and going places we've never been! The journey continues, just in a new direction! Happy Trails!

Have had a busy but good summer. Spent time in Colorado with family and finished going over our final land tour we'll be leading in September. Will be a blast with so many of our wonderful and favorite clients who have all become friends to us over the years. A grand Reunion Tour! From the high Rocky Mountains to the low Utah Desert. On our way soon to be back to the Columbia River on the American Pride for two cruises this month and we'll finish out our season in October with a 10 day Pioneer Cruise on the American Song and one last week on the Pride.

It's been a busy season! We worked on two week- long cruises in April, visited our family in Colorado for two weeks and then worked two week- long cruises in May. We had one week off and took a road trip through parts of Idaho and Montana, up to Glacier Park. Saw Lewis and Clark sites, beautiful river canyons, pristine lakes and visited with some good friends. We are back on the Columbia for two more weeks before we finally fly back to Arizona in mid June. We look forward to having July off and haven't yet decided if we will get some work done on the house or just spend it with family, probably both!

Been awhile since I have posted. We started the season on the lovely American Song in April. Pretty boat and great staff. Was a good start to the season.
We have been in Colorado babysitting our four grandkids for the week while your son and his wife take a trip for their 15th anniversary. We're tired, but it's a good tired!
Next Saturday we are back on the Song for two weeks. Some folks we know will be onboard, which is always nice. Some people have asked for Todd's 2020 schedule, so I will post it along with what he still will be doing in 2019.

Winding things down is a process, and we are in the midst of it. We still have our much anticipated, exclusive Reunion Tour in September, with a full reservations list of the wonderful folks who have traveled with us many times over the years and have become much more than clients, they have all become our friends. It will be a fun-filled journey together in Colorado and Utah, not just taking in magnificent scenery, but fully enjoying the time we all get to have together.

We have taken down our website since we have no more High Point Tours to promote, or itineraries to post.

Todd is scheduled for 10 weeks in 2019 and eight weeks in 2020 as the onboard presenter for American Cruise Lines. Many of you have contacted us about seeing him in their T.V. ads and have sent us magazine ads bearing his handsome face! If you have questions about the cruises, you can contact us, or ACL.

This is his present schedule

Another good ending to an extremely busy season. The Native Voices tour went well with great weather, fun and informative Native guides, friendships formed and some lovely memories made. Was also wonderful to again have a number of folks along who have traveled with us before. Our tours have brought friends into our lives over the years, for which we are grateful.

But, we are ready to be winding things down in 2019 and to hopefully retire after 2020. We will be closing down High Point Tours soon and have also cut back on the cruises Todd will be on. You know when you know, and it is time for us to invest more time in our family. Our sweet grandkids are all growing up too fast! We don't want to miss it!

Many thanks to all of you who have come along on an adventure with us, ( or maybe two or three! ), and have enriched our lives with your stories, friendships, insights, generosity and hugs! We are grateful to have had the opportunity to spend time with so many wonderful people over the years and wish each of you the very best.

Happy Trails!

Has been a very, very busy season! Todd as presenter on river cruises all spring and in Alaska most of the summer. Other than all the smoke in Washington and Oregon, all went well. Beautiful places, amazing wildlife and some fun passengers.
Now getting ready to lead our upcoming Oregon Odyssey Tour on the coast! Looking forward to those gorgeous ocean views! Then it is back cruising on the Columbia for a couple of weeks before winding down our own tours with the Native Voices Tour in Arizona. That tour is always a hit, filled with fascinating landscapes, history and people. We finish the touring season with a last week on the Columbia, ending in November. Whew!! Then we sleep for a week!!
Hope all of you have a lovely autumn, it is such a beautiful and enjoyable time of the year.
Happy Trails!

We have had a lot of great times with amazing people in beautiful places!! So grateful for the opportunities to share some of our most favorite western U.S. locations joined by some of the best people we could ever ask for! Thanks everyone for coming along!!

05/10/2018

As High Point Tours, we will be leading our last Native Voices and Oregon Odyssey Tours this year. They are full at present, but we often utilize the Waiting Lists. If you are interested, let us know!

05/10/2018

Our 2019 schedule is not as full as the past 8 to 10 years have been. We'll no longer be onboard cruises to Alaska and Todd will be presenter on just 10 of the Columbia and Snake River cruises. His 2019 schedule will be posted on our website.
American Cruise Lines will be bringing out a new boat, The American Song. He will present 5 weeks on the Pride and 5 on The Song.
Time to slow things down a bit.
