On October 13th we finished our season of cruising and our season in life of working on the Columbia River. Todd started guiding and presenting on boats there in 2003, and over the past 18 years, worked for five different companies that plied the waters of both the Columbia River and the Snake River. In conjunction with running our own company, High Point Tours, I was able to join him for many years on cruises of those beautiful rivers and also of Alaska. It has been a good season in our lives, but we are happy and excited to begin a new one, that will take us to some new places, provide opportunity to visit old friends and make new ones, get better acquainted with our community in Colorado, and spend precious time with family.

So although you may see Todd featured in the American Cruise Lines catalogs and advertisements for 2022 / 2023 cruising seasons, he is officially retired and will no longer be onboard.

It has been a great experience. Many thanks to all of you who have cruised with us over the years.

I surprised Todd with this funny, but quite perfect t-shirt!😄

It's a beautiful day in Hood River, OR. We are on our second to last week on the Columbia River. Some great folks onboard, as always. Our very last week starts next Wednesday, and we are excited about the new chapter ahead of us. It has been a good run of seeing beautiful and interesting places, meeting fascinating people and making friends along the river that we have gotten to know over so many years of cruising this route. This week we have six people onboard who have traveled with us numerous times throughout the past. It has been so good to catch up and once again spend time together. We look forward to our drive home, staying in a cabin along the Little Salmon in Idaho, then in Twin Falls and in Green River, UT, to just relax and celebrate retirement. Grateful for the experiences and for all that is ahead for us. More time with family and friends and to explore new places we've not yet seen.

We've done four weeks of cruising on the Columbia and Snake Rivers for American Cruise Lines this year, two in May and two in June. We'll be heading out this week to do two more. It's going well, the boat is lovely and the sights are always interesting and beautiful. We look forward to seeing some familiar faces who will be joining us on some of the cruises, folks we have traveled with before. We'll then work two more weeks in September and two final weeks in October. Then...... we may acyually retire!!🙂

Hi Friends!
Been awhile since we've posted, with Covid and all. Been quite a year for everyone.
We are keeping our hopes up that the Washington and Oregon "powers that be" will open up the Columbia and Snake Rivers to river cruising again. Since all the cruises were cancelled in 2020 and we didn't get to do our final year, we have agreed to come back onboard for 10 weeks in 2021, in hopes American Cruise Lines will once again be plying the waters of the great Columbia. It is SUCH a beautiful river with so much to see and learn. The Covid numbers continue to go down and the venues are beginning to open up, so consider joining us! We will be only on the newer vessel, The Harmony, and every week we are on will have a Lewis and Clark emphasis:

Cruising Dates for 2021 on The American Harmony:

5/12 Starting in Clarkston, WA
5/19 Starting at Jantzen Beach,OR

6/9 Starting in Clarkston, WA
6/16 Starting at Jantzen Beach,OR

7/21Starting in Clarkston,WA
7/28 Starting at Jantzen Beach,OR

9/1 Starting in Clarkston, WA
9/8 Starting at Jantzen Beach,OR

9/29 Starting in Clarkston, WA
10/6 Starting at Jantzen Beach,OR

Message us with any questions. Let's hope for the best!!

On the last leg of our work season. Heading to Colorado this coming week to soon meet up with the wonderful folks who have traveled with us so many times over the years. You all have made it happen! You kept us writing and running tours to beautiful and amazing places. Thank you for your ongoing encouragement, support and friendships. It has been a great journey! We look forward to a week of fun and laughter, gorgeous scenery and being with friends.
From the tour we head back to the Columbia River for two last cruises, ending mid October. Then it's time with the grandkids!!
Next year we have only eight cruises scheduled. We are looking forward to full retirement by winter of 2020.
We look forward to spending more time with family and friends and going places we've never been! The journey continues, just in a new direction! Happy Trails!

Have had a busy but good summer. Spent time in Colorado with family and finished going over our final land tour we'll be leading in September. Will be a blast with so many of our wonderful and favorite clients who have all become friends to us over the years. A grand Reunion Tour! From the high Rocky Mountains to the low Utah Desert. On our way soon to be back to the Columbia River on the American Pride for two cruises this month and we'll finish out our season in October with a 10 day Pioneer Cruise on the American Song and one last week on the Pride.

It's been a busy season! We worked on two week- long cruises in April, visited our family in Colorado for two weeks and then worked two week- long cruises in May. We had one week off and took a road trip through parts of Idaho and Montana, up to Glacier Park. Saw Lewis and Clark sites, beautiful river canyons, pristine lakes and visited with some good friends. We are back on the Columbia for two more weeks before we finally fly back to Arizona in mid June. We look forward to having July off and haven't yet decided if we will get some work done on the house or just spend it with family, probably both!
