This little moutain town along Scenic Route 76 offers a train ride by the Toccoa River. Its about an hour ride to Copperhill Tennessee where you'll have a 2 hour layover to shop and explore, and then about an hour back to Blue Ridge Ga. Tickets vary by class, season, and event, and range from $30 - $120.

Clayton Georgia is a beautiful little town along scenic route 76 with so much to see and do!

There's tons of great shopping downtown at Wonder North Georgia, Blue Ridge Toys, Reeve's Hardware Lulu & Tully Mercantile, Of These Moutains, and The Butler Gallery just to name a few. Theres also the Gerogia Moutain Market in the old mill. The Rusty Bike Cafe, The Clayton Cafe, Henri's Deli, Bella's Italian, and The Universal Joint are a few of the great eating establishments in town. Check out the Foxfire Museum, Tallulah Gorge, The Chattooga River, and when it gets dark, catch a movie at the Tiger Drive-in.

If you're traveling on scenic route 76 in Northeast Georgia, make sure to stop and check out this fun little moutain town! You won't be disappointed!!

Route 76 Turns 100 Years Old!!

Created as one of the original US highways under the, then newly formed, Federal Bureau of Public Roads, Route 76 was originally like a miniature eastern version of its more famous cousin, Route 66, which also opened in 1926. Route 66 leaves Chicago, a major Midwestern transportation hub, and follows a scenic route across western America to the Pacific Ocean. Route 76 leaves Chattanooga, a major Southeastern transportation hub, and winds across eastern America through the Blue Ridge Moutains to the sandhills of South Carolina, to the banks of North Carolina and the Atlantic Ocean.

And, much like Route 66, in the 1960s and 70s, the Interstate Highway System bypassed travelers around the little towns which dot the old two lane highway; however the scenic routes are starting to make a comeback as the younger generation seem to be getting off the interstate more and more.
