I’m incredibly honored to be a contributing author in Our Journey to Wholeness: Volume One, where I share a vulnerable piece of my testimony and my journey toward healing, freedom, and wholeness.

Sharing my story wasn’t easy—but I believe there is purpose in our pain, power in our testimony, and freedom in bringing what was once hidden into the light.

SESSION 3: “THE WORLD’S VIEW OF TRUTH”

💭 PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

In what ways has the world tried to make you feel insignificant, insecure, or unloved?

For me, this question is loaded.

Growing up as a plus-size girl, I often felt insecure and unloved because of my weight. Judgment and criticism made me feel like my body determined my worth.

As a Black woman in a predominantly white world, I’ve also had to navigate stereotypes and expectations. Seeing people gravitate toward the “white girl” while facing the “angry Black woman” stereotype made me feel like I had to fight to be seen differently.

Over time, I learned to discover my self-worth and love myself. Then, as an adult, I found something even deeper:

My worth is in Christ. 🤍

Now that I know who I am in Christ, I won’t allow anyone to make me believe I’m worthless, insecure, or unloved.

The world may define us by our appearance, accomplishments, status, background, or others’ opinions—but God gets the final say about who we are.

SESSION 3: “THE WORLD’S VIEW OF TRUTH”

🌎 WHAT IS “THE WORLD”?

“The world” includes the culture, values, and systems around us.

It often meets legitimate needs in illegitimate ways:

✨ Accomplishments = significance
🔐 Status = security
🤍 Appearance & admiration = acceptance

But only God can truly satisfy these needs.

📖 1 John 2:15–17 describes three ways the world pulls us in: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.

💭 The world offers counterfeit solutions to needs only God can fulfill. As believers, we don’t have to prove our worth through what we have, accomplish, look like, or who recognizes us.

Our acceptance, significance, and security come from God.

🔥 THE WORLD, THE FLESH, AND THE DEVIL

We’ve spent Part 2 learning about truth, faith, and choosing to believe what God says is true.

Now, we’re going a little deeper.

Every day, we face three things that can work together to pull us away from God’s truth: the world, the flesh, and the devil.

Understanding how each one works is important because we can’t stand firm against something we don’t recognize.

In Part 3, we’ll learn how these influences affect the way we think, believe, choose, and live—and how we can renew our minds and stand firm in the truth of God’s Word. 🕊️

📖 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” — Romans 12:2

Get ready. This section is going to challenge us to pay attention to the voices we’re listening to, the desires we’re following, and the lies we may have accepted as truth.

SESSION 2: “CHOOSING TO BELIEVE THE TRUTH”

As we come to the end of Session 2, we have one more challenge for you:

Think of someone you know who is not yet a Christian.

💭 What does the Bible say about why they don’t yet believe?

📖 Read 2 Corinthians 4:4 and Romans 10:14–15.

Then write a prayer specifically asking God to move in the things that may be keeping them from believing. Take God at His Word—and pray it.

For us, my husband will be leading this prayer. As a Christian husband, GOD says that part of his calling is to lead our household spiritually, and we’re choosing to put that into practice together. 🤍

Faith isn’t just something we believe—it’s something we act on.

So we want to challenge you: Who are you praying for? 👇🏽

In this video, my husband leads us through pages 40–42 of the Freedom in Christ book, focusing on two important truths:

🌱 How faith grows
🙌🏽 Faith is demonstrated by our actions

Faith isn’t simply about what we say we believe. What we truly believe will eventually show up in how we live, the choices we make, and how we respond to what life puts in front of us.

As we continue learning to believe God’s truth, we’re also learning what it looks like to put that faith into action.
