After a long drive, pulling into a driveway in a place I’ve never been, before meeting people I’ve only talked to on the phone, a mural like this welcomes me- it is a sign from the universe that I am where I need to be.

Maybe that’s not a sign you’d want, but hey, my joy is in safety, comfort and beauty - to create that and find people who do too.
For myself and my people which I realize is an ever expanding undefined list (and maybe this list includes you too) and that’s what I was taught and it’s been the agenda all along.

It took me months to go, see, read and actually appreciate the Embrace.

I chose a hot, very humid, crowded july day for something that’s not even that far from me.
It was very Chicago in a way- so new and larger than life and so moving, because Boston public garden sculptures feel so ancient.

The sun blinded me and I didn’t know what the photo was going to be of. I just wanted something/ anything to document the sun I could feel on my face for my first day off, after 2+ months of working every single day.
It’s been exhausting ofc. And the world has it way worse than me right now. Everyday I discover people close to me who don’t really care about lives lost, about the world they’re living in and leaving behind, the information they absorb and dissipate and the impact they have on the lives around the. That continues to shock, hurt and alienate me. It shouldn’t shock me everytime.
It seems the more we work with data, the less we deal with truth- if that is not alienating, I don’t know what is?
And in that spiral, I don’t know how to find the off button of my brain? I’ve looked for it on my walks and my sleep but it’s just not there. So I’ve found the mute button in being busy instead, which brings us back full circle to first day off in over 2 months.

Do you know that I’m a light packer? I travel light. A carryon and I’m good to go for a couple weeks.
That’s to say unless you’ve seen me on the way back home.
After I’ve hit a few chocolate shops. And ceramic stores. Then it’s a couple suitcases, maybe even new ones. And I’ll probably pay hefty bag fees too. 😳😭

I prefer the stay to have laundry and the lighting in my house to have stories- usually they’re fragile ones.
