Hello All….
It’s been a while, a long while, but I had the chance, just by chance, to “get my feet wet”again.
A close friend and his wife were looking to buy a boat. He did his research. They both did. We went and did a walk down, sounded the hull, heard it run, it was a solid boat, and they pulled the trigger.
They put a lot of time into getting her cleaned up and running how they wanted.
Here’s where I jump in..😂😂 all of this excitement leading up to the past couple of days…. Ok maybe weeks.
Spools of mono, spools of braid, fluorocarbon leader material, crimps, sleeves, rods and reels I’ve been reintroduced to after far to long.
I have to say, what hurts the most are my fingers. Relearning knots I could once tie in my sleep, now they take a minute. The fingers hurt, my eyes don’t work like once did, can’t hear, and once I’m good, I gotta p*e. Whatever…. All that goes away with the first cast. Right rod? Right line? How are my knots? Did I rig my bait correctly?
Ok, here goes…
First cast. The Mack’s in the air, still attached, and splash. He’s a lively one. I let him get away from the boat, Rod in the gunnel, clicker on, and it’s on… like donkey kong! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ…….
Well, we didn’t win the tournament, but getting back to a place that makes all the bad s**t go away, with good friends (family), just enjoying what we love.
Thank you Mike & Maggie.
Thank you for an awesome weekend. Can’t wait to get back out and do it all over again.
