Today's Eclipse April 8 2024

I took a series of shots starting right after the eclipse started in Connecticut, every 15 minutes, until the end.

In MANUAL mode a camera can't adjust to the available light like our eyes can. A camera has less dynamic range. In AUTO mode it would have adjusted the shutter speed or aperture to keep the light constant.

Our eyes adjust, kind of like opening up the aperture or increasing the ISO. So it wasn't nearly as dark as the camera "thought" it was.

As you can see, the camera couldn't handle the lack of light from our 90% eclipse.

Sorry if my "science" is not exactly right.
