Tomorrow Come Celebrate Quincy's History at Open Heritage Day!
Join City of Quincy on Saturday, October 17, from 10 AM to 4 PM for a day of history, exploration and family-friendly activities at some of Quincy's most treasured historic landmarks!
From guided tours and interactive exhibits to fascinating lectures and special performances, there's something for everyone to enjoy!
Free trolley service will be available throughout the day to help visitors travel between participating sites and Heritage Hubs. Trolley pickup locations will include the Quincy Historical Society, 8 Adams Street, and behind the Munroe Building, adjacent to Quincy City Hall. There will also be on-street parking near the Heritage Hubs and participating locations.
HANCOCK-ADAMS COMMON
• 10 AM–4 PM: Colonial lawn games and self-guided tours of the Common.
• 12:15–12:45 PM: Lunch-time lecture with Quincy Public Historian Bob Damon exploring the architecture of United First Parish Church and Old Town Hall.
• 4–5 PM: Special closing program with historian and author Brooke Barbier, featuring Cocked and Boozy: An Intoxicating History of the American Revolution, along with authentic cocktails inspired by the era!
USS SALEM & US NAVAL SHIPBUILDING MUSEUM
• 10 AM–4 PM: Explore the historic USS Salem heavy cruiser and the museum's exhibits.
• 11 AM, 12 PM & 1 PM: Enjoy Welderetts, a one-woman theatrical performance sharing the experiences of a female shipyard welder during World War II.
SOUTHER TIDE MILL
• 12–4 PM: Rolling presentations exploring the forgotten history of this fascinating historic tide mill.
HANCOCK CEMETERY
• 10 AM–Noon & 1–4 PM: Guided tours every 30 minutes through Quincy's oldest burial grounds.
CHURCH OF THE PRESIDENTS
• 10 AM–4 PM: Self-guided tours of United First Parish Church, including its historic sanctuary and Adams Crypt.
OLD TOWN HALL MUSEUM
• 10 AM–4 PM: Explore the Quincy250 exhibit, discovering local stories from the American Revolution and Quincy's connections to the Declaration of Independence.
