We're already planning this years hike. Last years equipment failure only fueled the desire to complete our mission. This year we expect a hard hike. All days will be spent "in canyon" to finish off a particular canyon with all the side canyon explorations to boot.

Haven't done a full upload so here we go.
The trip took a sideways turn when the pack came apart. But we managed to see a few things we'd not seen previously. Went back through a small section we usually blast through and did a couple of day hikes before moving North.
Rodney Whaley and I always manage to pull something good from every trip.
Had a good crew this year that rolled with the setback and had a great time. Nourthrup Jeffrey and Alex Pickett did great. Hope they join us next year when we try again to finish this canyon system off 100%.

Made it back to boring AF Illinois at 3:45 this morning. I miss Utah already. But I missed my wife too so there's that. Lol.
Planning next year already, repeat of this year but without equipment failure.
I'm sooooo bummed out. It was MY pack that failed. We could have made it. But no way could I carry the weight on just shoulders. Still a great hike. We always live up to our name, we are an "Adventure".

So, we did this thing in Needles, we climbed over the top of a canyon wall to get into the next canyon. It was a view we don't often get.

Salvaging a planned hike that went south for one reason or another is just something we're used to. This time it was equipment failure, next time it might be lack of canyon water. But we always manage to come out with good stuff. We even made some new acquaintances with Bear Ears organization folks.

Houston, we have a problem
Pack belt separation. This is not good. Back top side. Had to scrap the plans to go all the way to the river. My pack wasn't going to survive. We tried some field repairs. It got us out and back to the truck. Day hikes from here on out. We have plenty We still want to do
