Hours in the saddle. Sleeping under the stars. A mission accomplished.

“The Double Rafter Ranch trip is an amazing time and definitely something everyone should get a chance to do … Being out there, I watched people’s lives change for the better.” -Wayne Deyette, cherished member of our Fund family.

This summer, riders from our Jinx McCain Horsemanship Program assisted the Double Rafter Ranch by driving its cattle herd into the high country. Our riders spent 10-12 hours a day in the saddle; ate around the fire; took baths in mountain snow-fed rivers; saw elk, moose, and other high-mountain critters; and slept soundly each night under a blanket of stars, with sore muscles from a long day’s ride and a satisfied smile on their faces knowing they measured up with the cowboys of days long ago.
