September marks the start of moose mating season, also known as the rut, here in western Maine. As fall settles into the region, bull moose become more active as they search for a mate.
The rut typically runs from mid-September into October, with activity picking up toward the end of the month.

If you're out exploring, keep your eyes open around wetlands, back roads and wooded areas, especially at dawn and dusk. And remember: admire these incredible animals from a safe distance. During mating season, moose can be especially unpredictable.

The first hints of fall are starting to show around the Rangeley Region, with little pops of color. Summer isn’t over just yet, but fall is definitely waiting in the wings. It's the perfect time for scenic chair lift rides SADDLEBACK MAINE - golfing at or Evergreen Golf Club or casting those last fishing lines and enjoying all the hiking trails around us.

We’re incredibly excited to share that the Rangeley Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce has been named a Top 3 finalist for Best Chamber of Commerce in Maine for the second year in a row!

To receive this recognition last year was an honor, but to be nominated among Maine’s best for a second consecutive year means so much.

This recognition reflects the incredible businesses, organizations, residents, visitors, volunteers and community members who make the Rangeley Lakes Region such a special place to live, work and visit.

We are so proud to represent this community and grateful to everyone who continues to support the work we do. The winner will be announced on October 1 at the Maine State Chamber awards dinner in Portland.
