🚧 Heads up, trail users! The Sacramento River Rail Trail from the Shasta Trailhead to the Keswick Dam Trailhead, including Rock Creek Trail, and the Middle Creek Trail are temporarily closed through December 16, 2026 for trail resurfacing.⁠

Heavy equipment is working on and near the trail, and the surface will be uneven and covered with debris in places. Combined with limited sightlines, conditions aren’t safe for visitors. All public use is prohibited on the trail and within 50 feet on either side, day and night.⁠

We’ll check progress weekly as it will reopen as soon as the work is done. Thank you for your patience everyone and to BLM for accomplishing this. 🚴‍♀️🥾

Experience Native American traditions up close this weekend! 🪶 Redding Rancheria’s Stillwater Pow Wow kicks off TONIGHT at the Redding Rodeo Grounds.

Watch dancers from across the U.S. and Canada and hear traditional singing and drumming as this annual celebration honors ancestors and long-held traditions. Since 1991, the Pow Wow has grown to welcome about 10,000 guests each year, with more than $15,000 in prize money on the line. Enjoy Native food, handmade crafts, and cultural learning while you’re there.

🏆⛵ It's regatta time! The Redding Yacht Club is hosting the 2026 Kennedy Memorial Cup at Whiskeytown Lake THIS SATURDAY, September 19th.

Paddleboarders and sailors, get ready to compete in the Great Paddleboard & Sailboat Race at Brandy Creek Marina. 🌊

📋 Skippers meeting: 12 PM
🏁 Racing begins: 1 PM
🍖 Optional BBQ dinner: 5 PM ($20)
🏅 Championship awards presented after racing

Winners in each class get their name engraved on the Kennedy Memorial Cup Trophy, plus top 2 finishers take home awards. Entry is just $25/boat.

After nearly 50 years of fly fishing around the world, writing a best-selling book, and introducing thousands of people to the sport, Mercer still calls Redding his “favorite place in the world to go fishing.”
