Yesterday was pretty special out of Brunswick Heads, NSW, Australia

The swells have kept us off of the water in the afternoons and evenings, but we got out this morning and boy did Mother Nature put on a show.

This morning had everything, dramatic moody backdrops, and lots of active whales that put on some spectacular aerial displays, rocketing out of the water.

Jellyfish Lake is thriving once again!

If you have had Palau on your travel bucket list please reach out to us! We have been running expeditions to this beautiful island nation for 10 years and would love to have you join us.

Float amongst a Massive smack of Golden jellyfish (Mastigias papua etpisoni) in Palau’s famous Jellyfish Lake.

Over hundreds of thousands of years, these jellyfish have evolved, losing their stinging nematocysts and feed exclusively from photosynthesis.

Each day millions of these jellyfish will migrate horizontally across the lake until nightfall when they will only move up and down to avoid the edge of the lake where predators (anemones) await.

Jellyfish have two life stages, the Medusa and the polyp. The Medusa life form is the golden jellyfish people see when snorkeling.

These tiny 2mm polyps live around 10 meters deep along the side of the lake, eventually producing the new medusae.
