But don’t let their relaxed attitude fool you. California sea lions are incredibly strong, fast, and agile both in and out of the water.

As we enjoy another South Bay summer, it’s also a great reminder that sea lions need their space—especially during pupping season. If you spot sea lions resting on the beach, docks, or rocks, admire them from a distance and let them do their thing. Disturbing, feeding, or harassing marine mammals is against federal law, and giving them space helps keep both people and wildlife safe.

Absolutely zero concern about beach season? ✔️

While we’re over here counting steps and drinking extra water, the sea lions of King Harbor have already mastered summer. Their routine seems pretty simple:

☀️ Find a warm rock
☀️ Soak up the sunshine
☀️ Nap
☀️ Repeat

Yesterday marked the first day of summer, June Gloom is finally starting to loosen its grip, and this harbor local is clearly ready for July.

Honestly, this might be the confidence we’re all aiming for.
