Honoring Black American History Month means recognizing the profound and lasting contributions Black educators, scholars, and leaders have made to education—and to our collective future. From advocating for equal access to schooling to building institutions, curricula, and philosophies rooted in justice and community, Black Americans have continually expanded what education can be and who it serves. This month is a reminder that education has always been a tool for empowerment, resistance, and transformation—and that the progress we benefit from today is built on generations of vision, resilience, and leadership.
