This morning, students across the nation gathered at “See You At The Pole” See You at the Pole - an initiative for students to meet at their school’s flagpole before school starts to join with their peers as believers in prayer.

We were so encouraged to witness this take place in person, and to see the countless photos and stories from our school partners across the states who joined in prayer today.

At ACTS, we believe that change starts with ordinary individuals whose everyday choices make an extraordinary difference. We know that prayer has power, and makes an eternal difference. The faithfulness of the students gathered today absolutely makes an impact - not only in their hearts and lives, but in their schools and communities as others witness what their personal faith means to them.

We are so proud of the next generation of world changers standing boldly in their faith, and are praying for change along with each of these students who gathered today.

It’s been 25 years.

Many of us remember exactly where we were when we heard the news.

Many of us only know what the world has looked like in the aftermath of this unthinkable national tragedy.

For some, they remember not just the news, but they remember the feeling of the impact. The smoke. The sirens. The tears. The terror.

At ACTS, one of our staff members, Jay, remembers just that. Here’s his story:

“This is the only picture I have of my morning in Arlington National Cemetery on 9/11/01.  My job for the past 36 years has been working for American Christian Tours. A large part of that job has been in the role of a tour guide - leading mostly student groups on historical tours.

I had a group of 12th grade students from Redding, California that had just arrived the night before.  It was a beautiful morning.  We were scheduled to visit Arlington National Cemetery and lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns at 10 am.

Who would know that at 9:37 am, American Airlines flight 77 -
hijacked by terrorists from Dulles Airport, would slam into the Pentagon killing 125 at the Pentagon and 59 aboard the flight?

As we were walking up the hill towards the Tomb the plane roared in front of us and slammed into the Pentagon below us. The explosion rocked the ground and the sound was incredible.  We all hit the ground.  As we approached the Tomb, a guard ordered us to evacuate the cemetery immediately.  

On the way back down to the entrance, as hundreds of sirens wailed, I stopped and took a picture of Joey (he was training with me to be a tour guide).  You can see the smoke billowing up from the Pentagon behind him.  The Pentagon was just about half a mile or so from where we were.

So many memories of that day.  A day that would change our nation forever.  A day in my mind that would take away a piece of America that we will never know again.

Today on this 25th Anniversary my heart and mind are filled with so many emotions.  I pray for our nation, our people, those that lost loved ones, and against the hate and division.”

The National Military Monument is temporarily installed at the Lincoln Memorial, honoring the millions of Americans who have served.

You can even search for the name of a family member or friend who served and see their name displayed on the memorial. ❤️

As classrooms come back to life and a new year of learning begins, we’re praying for students and educators alike - for the teachers who inspire curiosity, the students who are ready to discover something new, and the school communities that make learning a collaborative adventure. ❤️
