Here at Pixl, we treasure Memorial day as a moment to pause, remember, and honor the brave members of our nation’s Armed Services who gave everything in service of our country. We’re proud to share a few reflections from our own team about what this day means to us - and the gratitude we carry for those who came before.

As we enjoy the freedoms their sacrifices made possible, take some time to thank service members in your own family and remember those who we have lost. Together, we honor them today and always. ❤️🤍💙

🎉 Happiest of birthdays to Austin Wagner! 🎉

Austin has been a big fan of the cinema since he was old enough to press the buttons on a remote. A childhood Star Wars obsession turned quickly into what would become his most memorable birthday gift - a full lego set featuring the X-Wing Straighter! Even 20+ years later, now a fully grown adult and editor at Pixl Production, he keeps his coworkers in the loop on the latest and greatest making the theater circuit. It’s not a Monday morning production meeting without a spoiler-free review from Austin! 🎬🍿

It’s a near guarantee that Austin will be spending his day off from editing to instead stare at a much larger screen at Alamo Drafthouse! At least he doesn’t have to edit this one… 😄

Whichever theater you’re in, Austin, we hope your popcorn is fresh, the crowds are lively, and you spend the day surrounded by friends and family celebrating you!

Belated congratulations to David Hamilton for winning the first-ever Pixl March Madness Pool and taking home the most hilariously intense trophy ever created! His strategy was to pick the top seed in every game, and while he didn't pick the champion, it worked out so well for him that he had already won before the final was even played.

Introducing Pixl’s First-Ever 24 Hours of Giving!

For years, we’ve wanted to find a way to use our creativity to truly make a difference...and now, we’re doing it. Over the course of two jam-packed 12-hour days (because let’s be honest, we’re too old to pull an actual 24-hour shift), our team, alongside talented vendor partners, will dedicate our time and talents to help organizations and individuals who need a little extra support. Whether it’s a new video, a fresh logo, or a website refresh, we’re rolling up our sleeves to make an impact.

Because giving back isn’t just a good idea, it’s essential. Every company should do it. And at Pixl, we take pride in using our skills to serve others.

Another successful event in the books! Our own David Hamilton worked with our friends Ideas NW on the annual "All Partners Day," a gathering of Financial Partners Credit Union to celebrate and recognize their employees, engage in team-building activities, hear from leadership, hand out awards and get inspired. This year's theme was "Relevant Distinction" and with our valued partners Ideas NW, we delivered on FPCU's vision through event theme development 🦋, video production 🎬 , and on-site execution🎤.

Team bonding, but make it art! 🎨🐾

The Pixl team took a break from producing videos and events to spend an afternoon at Painting with a Twist, where we put our artistic skills to the test! Each of us painted a portrait of our beloved pets—dogs, cats… and in Chaffin’s case, a whale tail. (To be clear, he doesn't have a pet whale. 🐋)

Our wonderful instructor Eva penciled in the outlines ahead of time and guided us through the process. Of course, our creative director and full-time artist Andrew set the bar high, but everyone’s paintings turned out shockingly good!

Moral of the story? Creativity comes in all forms, and sometimes, stepping outside our usual medium is the best way to refresh and reconnect.

Trying to portray someone experiencing it can often be tricky as we want to steer away from stereotypes, and protect the identities of the people we work with. Doing an animated video felt like a new way to tell the story of what we do and be sensitive to the people we serve at the same time. The staff at Pixl were amazing at being able to listen to our needs and concerns, and then creatively create the video we needed to quickly sum up the causes of homelessness and how we help those experiencing it."
