Each time the Richmond Flying Mummies take the field, they help represent one of our most unique claims to fame: Richmond has more mummies per capita than any city in North America!
Richmond is home to Indiana’s only two Egyptian mummies on permanent display - The Wayne County Historical Museum houses a 3,000-year-old Egyptian mummy purchased in Cairo by museum founder Julia Gaar in 1929. Just down the road at the Joseph Moore Museum rests Lady Ta’an, an Egyptian mummy brought to Richmond in 1889.
