Our newest apartments are in the house next door to the original guest house. The newer house was built in 1959, so we have refurbished and decorated it with a Mid-Century vibe, keeping the original boomerang-patterned formica countertops and built-in appliances (although we had to replace the dishwasher).

We now have a new, much nicer-looking web site -- hooray! In addition, we are now cross-listed on Airbnb, which will handle any online bookings for us -- much more conveniently that our current arrangement.

We are honored to have been nominated for a Community Improvement Award from the Richmond-Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, along with Firehouse BBQ, Bellissimo, the new Olive Garden and others. The new railing at the side of the guest house, which Mickey designed and built, is what has really added pizzazz to the place. He drew inspiration from the abstract wheat pattern in Frank Lloyd Wright's stained glass windows!

This one-bedroom apartment has a queen bed and full-size futon. It is all on one level, with a large bathroom and doors wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair, and it has an attached garage. The original Dwyer all-in-one kitchen has a three-burner stove, small sink and waist-high refrigerator. Larger refrigerated items can be kept in the full-sized refrigerator in the garage.

We haven't really devoted much attention to our page, so it's quite a surprise to see that we have 18 people who like us. Cool! It's just so much fun to offer hospitality to people passing through or staying for a while here in Richmond! Our goal is always to exceed our guests' expectations, and we are very proud to be the No. 1-rated B&B/inn in Richmond on TripAdvisor.com.

We have another full house for Earlham's Homecoming and it's so great to see former classmates connecting. I went over last night to take a container of half-and-half to the women staying in the large apartment, and they were sitting around the kitchen table, poring over copies of Sargasso (the Earlham yearbook). Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, every time I see people in that space, enjoying themselves like that!

Now you can find us on Facebook, too -- finally! For those of you who don't know, this is a business we've been growing since 2003. We're looking forward to having many of our "regulars" stay with us again -- Earlham parents coming to pick up their kids. We're also trying a new pricing approach on our Web site for our large apartment. Not sure how that will work -- but feedback is welcome!
