Vandor Corporation is a multi-faceted manufacturing company with 2 distinct divisions: Starmark Crem Established in 1972 in Richmond, Indiana by Mr.

Bruce Elder, Vandor Corporation began by specializing in custom die-cutting of chipboard and corrugated fiberboard components. Our proprietary products simplified and revolutionized the process of trimming casket interiors and are still an integral part of our company today. After several years of developing these unique products, we shifted our attention to other disciplines that could benefit fr

om creative use of lightweight and strong converted paper products. We devoted our R&D efforts to the packaging needs of the electrical connector industry and developed several corrugated fiberboard reels. This success led to developing reel packaging products for other industries such as wire & cable, cordage, and fiber optics, while also branching out to other commodity materials such as our ENVIROMOLD® reprocessed resins. Thus, Reel Options® was established. With so much specialized growth, in 2012 we decided to separate the company into two distinct divisions.

“Starmark Cremation Products”, which manufactures cremation products sold directly to Funeral Homes and Crematories nationwide and through a growing network of casket distributors, moved to a new facility to focus on its core business, where we design, manufacture and market everything in-house. Vandor currently has over 25 patents specific to the casket/funeral supply industry, and over 35 overall. Products such as the Transporter® cremation container and the Sure~Lock™ Urn are keys to the continued success of Starmark. Visit our page .richmond for more info. "Vandor Plastics", where Reel Options® now resides, stayed at the current facility and took over the full 119,000 square feet of manufacturing space. Today—Vandor’s Reel Options division manufactures reel flanges from 6.5-inch up to 24-inch diameter. We employ an in-house assembly department, and flanges and tubes can also ship individually bulk packaged for remote assembly in order to save on freight costs. Many of our patented designs allow our customers to simply assemble reels in house with a staple gun or torque driver--depending on the assembly method. Visit our page for more info. Team Member Spotlight: Rick Brown👋

Having just celebrated 15 years at Vandor, Rick plays a big role in bringing ideas to life. His days can look very different, sometimes he’s in the office working on product designs and research, and other times he’s out in the plant helping with testing and production. No two days are the same!

Rick first connected with Vandor through a sister company and quickly found a passion for product development and sharing new ideas. That passion is still strong today 💡

One of Rick’s proudest moments was helping develop some of the first injection molded reels and components. Even better? Those products are still a big part of the business today.

What he enjoys most is the freedom to think outside the box. Vandor’s R&D team is always encouraged to try new ideas that can help Vandor, Reel Options and Starmark, and their customer’s grow.

Along the way, Rick has also gained experience in patents and trademarks and became an inventor himself, helping to protect ideas and keep the company competitive.

Outside of work, he’s known for hosting a chili cookoff for the past 12 years 🌶️ He may not have won yet, but he still says his chili is the best!

Team Member Spotlight: Walter Treminio 👋

Walter is part of our hardwood assembly team, where he helps make sure every order is completed with care and on time. He believes communication is the key to building a great product and it shows in everything he does.
This November marks his 5 years with the company, and it’s a milestone Walter is proud of 🎉 He was first drawn to the company because of its family feel and the way it truly cares about its team members.

One of his proudest moments was being part of the Richmond Urn launch. Each urn is built by hand with quality and love, and Walter knows the care he puts in makes a difference for families during meaningful moments.

Walter says the best part of the job is the people. “Everyone works hard and supports each other,” he shares. That positive culture makes work more enjoyable and pushes him to bring his best every day.
He’s also learned an important lesson along the way - quality over quantity. Taking the time to do things right helps to make sure every product meets the highest standard.

Outside of work, Walter stays busy with his family. He and his wife are rebranding their small business, where they make and sell rubs using locally grown ingredients. You can even find them at the Richmond Farmer’s Market! 🌽 He also enjoys hunting and recently harvested his first buck, something he’s proud of.

✨ Team Member Spotlight: Kelly Chapman ✨

Since 2010, Kelly Chapman has been a key part of the Vandor team! Starting part-time during college breaks, she officially joined us full-time in 2012—and we’re so glad she did.

Today, Kelly serves as our A/R & Collections Manager and Payroll Administrator, balancing numbers, problem-solving, and supporting both customers and team members. From managing accounts to processing payroll, her ability to multitask keeps things running smoothly across divisions.

What began as “a college job” quickly turned into a passion. Along the way, Kelly discovered she loves digging into the details and making sure the numbers balance. Even more, she values the relationships she’s built over the years and the teamwork that drives Vandor forward.

Kelly’s especially proud to be part of a company that’s committed to both customers and team members—and she’s witnessed incredible growth since her early days on a five-person accounting team. Today, that team has doubled in size, and she continues to wear many hats to help maximize productivity across all Vandor entities.

Outside of work, you’ll find Kelly cheering on her three kids at soccer, softball, gymnastics, or dance—or catching a Bengals or Reds game with her husband. 🧡 WHO DEY!

Fun fact: Kelly played college softball and overcame multiple major injuries—including shoulder surgery, a broken tibia and fibula, and a shattered elbow. Her determination to return to the field each time shaped the resilience and work ethic she brings to Vandor every day.

Brett Bishop’s 40th anniversary with Vandor! 🎉
For four decades, Brett Bishop has been a driving force behind our success.

Brett has truly done it all – from leading shipping to working in production to being the go-to problem solver. He has been integral in every building move, keeps our operations moving forward, and never misses a chance to bring laughter along the way. Brett currently serves as our Strategic Procurement Manager and has led the purchasing department for more than 20 years.

Brett often says he found his career in purchasing “by accident.” After learning all the Vandor parts while working in shipping and discovering his natural knack for negotiation, he found his perfect fit. And in his own words, he does not think he would have loved purchasing anywhere else as much as he has at Vandor.

Brett, thank you for 40 years of leadership, loyalty, humor, and heart.

✨ Team Member Spotlight: Rosemary Hawotte ✨

What does a typical day look like for an office manager? For Rosemary Hawotte, no two days are ever the same—and that’s exactly what she loves.

Rosemary is the Office Manager at Vandor’s Statesville location, where she truly wears many hats. From customer and Team Member relations to recruiting and invoicing, Rosemary helps keep the office running smoothly while supporting the entire team.

She joined Vandor in May 2024 and shared that she was drawn to the company’s growth and stability, saying, “I wanted to join a company where I could see myself staying for many years.”

One accomplishment she’s especially proud of is leading the Statesville plant through its ISO 9001 certification. “I had never spearheaded a certification process before and wasn’t familiar with ISO. It was a challenge, but I enjoyed learning and seeing our plant grow for the better,” she shared. Rosemary also loves the small-team, family feel at Statesville and has enjoyed watching the team grow from the ground up since the location opened.

Outside of work, Rosemary enjoys reading, cooking, and camping—and she’s set a fun personal goal for 2026: learning how to play pickleball! 🏓
