Who knew this little cabin would become the place for hundreds of travelers to disconnect from everyday life, and reconnect with each other?

We sure didn’t.

When we purchased this property in 2018, we had already made great memories at Lake Wateree State Park, and we knew we wanted to invest in our own place where we could make more.

Soon after we closed on the property, I decided to list it on Airbnb, “just to see” what would happen. To my surprise, it has been booked pretty much ever since.

Last night I re-read all the entries in our guest books from all the people who have stayed here in the last 6+ years. It reminded me what a blessing this place has turned out to be, not just for us and our family, but for so many more.

Even through COVID and an 18-month dam project that left our cove dry, people have come here to enjoy nature, and time together.

It now holds a special place in our hearts, and the hearts of so many others. The circle of gratitude from us to our guests, and back to us, just goes round and round.

It’s a special place, made more special by all the people who have made, and continue to make, memories here 〰️💗〰️

Our 2-bedroom lakeside cabin at Lake Wateree, SC, serves our guests in so many ways. Some are looking for respite and solitude. Some come for the fishing. Some want to reconnect with family and friends. Some love the kayaking and boat life.

She serves us in all the same ways. We’re so grateful we took a leap of faith nearly seven years ago, and welcomed her into our life. And we’re so grateful to all of you, who share our love for her.

It’s back! Dutchman Creek Marina re-opened this weekend after rebuilding from a fire several years ago. The new owners celebrated their grand opening with live music and a food truck. The store and fuel pumps will be ready and open next week! We are so happy to have them back in the neighborhood 🙌

This winter has been all over the place with regards to weather. Extreme lows, snow, and now extreme highs: 17 degrees above the average temperature. It’s the perfect weather for exploring.

The sun and the sky and the leaves are all showing off today 〰️☀️〰️

Our dock survived another flood, and we are thankful for that. Our calendar is opened up for the remainder of the year and early 2025 👀👀

This property is perfect for a couples retreat or low-key family weekend. Nearby Rocky Creek Trail is an easy and beautiful walk this time of year. Or you can hang out on our oversized screen porch with a good book and watch the birds, the fish, and squirrels. A slow cruise on the lake is also nice 🍂

Lake Wateree reached 106 feet after came through, which is 9 feet above the target lake level, and six feet above flood stage. Our floating dock is made to handle somewhere around 105 feet of water.

In God’s perfect timing and with His provision, Trey was able to get to the lake at just the right moment with just the right tools to extend the guide pole that anchors our floating dock. This prevented it from floating up off the pole, which could have destroyed the dock.

The Lake House lost power for a few days, but did not take on any water. We are grateful that Duke’s improved dam was able to move water so quickly out of the lake. And we are praying for everyone impacted by the storm.

We will be ready to host guests again starting Friday night. Fall and winter are so cozy at the lake 🍂
