I spotted a display case full of books by one Elbert Hubbard in the Grand Californian- and an internet rabbit hole later I was immersed in the details of an eccentric and extraordinary person. (Please Google him!)
But why is this display here? Who is Elbert Hubbard?!

Elbert Hubbard was kinda like a 20th century version of an influencer. He was a writer, philosopher, publisher, and founded the Roycroft artisan community that had a strong influence on the Arts and Crafts movement of the early 1900s. The Grand Californian was designed in the same craftsman style, and wouldn't be complete without an homage to the man behind the movement. In one of the books, you can even spot the Roycroft Crest! When Disney Imagineers do something, they don't skimp on the details!
