VULNERABLE POST:
This past week I traveled to Mexico with my Husband and two kids-as well as 19 other rooms mixed of family and friends. We were having a great time making memories and enjoying sunshine ☀️
However, on Saturday night the trip took a turn. My sweet girl had, what we now know was, a febrile seizure. I won’t go into much detail but to say every adult on this trip was traumatized is an understatement. We had to take an ambulance to a Mexican hospital where she was admitted overnight. Thankfully my baby was ok and we are now back home safe and sound and she’s been seen by her pediatrician for additional tests.
Now, I’ve been a travel advisor for 15 years and send clients daily all over the world. Throughout my years I’ve had clients injured or fall ill and I’ve helped them through the process but never had to experience it myself. My biggest takeaway as an advisor will be to really discuss (even more than I already do) the importance of travel insurance with clients. My daughter was completely healthy, showed no signs of illness and within a split second she was having a 7 minute seizure in a foreign country. So please if you’re taking a trip, remember my story and get the insurance….it will be one less thing you’ll need to stress about during an already stressful moment!
