Saturday, we proudly hung a Crazy Horse poster in our unit which pays tribute to the fearless Lakota warrior whose name it carries.

Did you know very few pictures of Crazy Horse exist? Crazy Horse, the legendary Lakota warrior, refused to have his picture taken for several reasons. One belief is that he saw photographs as a way of stealing a person's spirit or "shadow"—he reportedly told Indian agent Valentine McGillycuddy, "My friend, why should you shorten my life by taking from me my shadow?". Another reason could be his deep distrust of outsiders and his desire to maintain his mystique. Additionally, Crazy Horse lived in the white man's world for only a short time before his death in 1877, limiting opportunities for a photograph to be taken. His refusal has only added to his legend, making him one of the most enigmatic figures in history.

However, a mishap during transportation led to some of the spans being rejected for safety reasons.
