🚨 Disney Opinion That Might Surprise You 🚨

One resort I don’t automatically recommend to every client?

✨ Caribbean Beach Resort ✨

Now before anyone grabs their pirate sword and comes for me, hear me out. 😅

Caribbean Beach is beautiful. The island vibes are immaculate. The pool is fantastic. 🌴☀️ And don’t even get me started on Sebastian’s Bistro because that place is one of Disney’s most underrated dining gems. 🍽️

BUT…

This resort was originally built as two separate resorts, and honestly, you can feel it.

🏝️ It’s HUGE.

Like, “I thought I packed for Disney, not a hiking expedition” huge.

🏝️ There are no elevators.

If you’re on an upper floor and traveling with strollers, mobility concerns, or just don’t love carrying luggage upstairs after a travel day, it’s something to consider.

🏝️ The internal bus system can be confusing.

There are multiple bus stops throughout the resort, which is great if you’re near one, but not so great when you’re trying to figure out why you’ve been touring the Caribbean before even leaving for Magic Kingdom. 😂

So who DO I recommend Caribbean Beach for?

✅ Families looking for a moderate resort with Skyliner access.

✅ Guests planning resort days who will actually enjoy exploring the grounds.

✅ Couples who love a laid-back tropical atmosphere.

✅ Travelers who want that sweet spot between value and deluxe vibes without paying deluxe prices.

If your goal is relaxing by the pool with a frozen drink, hopping on the Skyliner, and soaking in those island vacation vibes, Caribbean Beach might be exactly what you’re looking for. 🌴🍹

If your goal is minimizing walking, having a more compact layout, or wrangling little ones after a long park day, there may be better options for your family.

That’s why I never recommend a resort based on what I like. I recommend a resort based on how you vacation. ❤️

Because the best Disney resort isn’t the one everyone else loves… it’s the one that fits your family.

✈️🚐 Hot take: if I can avoid driving to O’Hare, paying for parking, dragging my luggage across a parking lot, and standing in TSA lines that feel longer than some Disney attractions… I’m going to do it.

One of the best travel hacks for Northern Illinois travelers is the American Airlines Landline motor coach service from Chicago Rockford International Airport to O’Hare.

Here’s why I’m a fan:

✨ Start your trip at Rockford
✨ Check your bags at RFD
✨ Breeze through Rockford’s much shorter TSA lines
✨ Board a luxury motor coach with leather seats, free WiFi, power outlets, and complimentary entertainment
✨ Relax while someone else deals with Chicago traffic
✨ Arrive directly at Terminal 3 at O’Hare

And here’s the really cool part…

American Airlines treats the motor coach just like a connecting flight. You’re not booking a bus ticket. You’re booking a flight itinerary. Your Rockford-to-O’Hare segment is part of your reservation, your bags are transferred, and you simply continue on to your flight.

So instead of:
🚗 Driving to Chicago
🚗 Paying for parking
🚗 Hauling luggage through a giant airport
🚗 Wondering if you’ll make it through security before retirement

You can:
☕ Grab a coffee in Rockford
📱 Connect to the free WiFi
🎬 Watch a show
💺 Sit back in a comfy leather seat
✨ Arrive at Terminal 3 ready for your next flight

Listen, I love a good travel hack, and this one feels a little like cheating. You get the convenience of flying from your local airport while still accessing all those O’Hare flight options.

Chicago traffic and I are not friends. If someone else wants to do the driving while I start my vacation early, I’m not going to argue. 😏

Would you try it, or are you still determined to wrestle O’Hare parking on your own?

✨ When It’s Not Worth It ✨

It might be controversial, but here we go…

It’s not worth trying to do everything.

Not every ride.
Not every restaurant.
Not every character meet.
Not every show.
Not every park from open to close.

Somewhere along the way, people started treating vacations like competitive sports.

You don’t get a trophy for being exhausted.

On our last trip, we rode Hulk multiple times. We rode Cat in the Hat multiple times. Not because they were the most efficient use of our day, but because my son was having the time of his life.

Could we have checked more attractions off a list? Absolutely.

Would those extra rides have made the trip more memorable than hearing him ask, “Can we do it again?” over and over? Not a chance.

Some of my happiest client trip reports include:
✨ Going back to the hotel for a midday break.
✨ Sitting on a bench with a snack and soaking in the atmosphere.
✨ Letting their kids set the pace.
✨ Re-riding a favorite attraction instead of rushing to the next thing.

The best vacations aren’t measured by how much you accomplish.

They’re measured by the moments you’ll still be talking about months later.

If you’re coming home needing a vacation from your vacation, it might be time to stop chasing everything and start enjoying what’s right in front of you.

What’s a ride, show, or experience your family could do over and over again without getting tired of it? 👇

Disney hot take time… 🔥

As a Disney adult, former Cast Member, and travel advisor, there are a few things I personally don’t spend my park budget on.

And before anyone panics…

No, I’m not talking about popcorn buckets or plushies. Those are practically part of my personality at this point. 🍿🧸😂

The things I usually skip?

🫧 Bubble wands
✨ Light-up toys
🪄 Light-up necklaces and spinning gadgets
🎈 Balloons

Not because they aren’t fun, they absolutely are!

But here’s my favorite money-saving tip:

Many of these same types of items can be purchased before your trip for a fraction of the cost. They make amazing “We’re Going to Disney!” surprises, airport gifts, road trip presents, or little treats waiting in the hotel room.

Your kids still get the excitement of bubbles, glowing toys, and vacation magic…

And you might save enough money for an extra snack, souvenir, or special experience in the parks. 🍦

Meanwhile, the things I’m most likely to spend my money on are:

🍿 Popcorn buckets
🧸 Plushies I definitely don’t need
👕 A shirt I’ll actually wear
☕ A mug I’ll use at home
📸 Photo memories
🎨 Unique collectibles

At the end of the day, there’s no wrong way to do Disney. If a bubble wand makes your child’s entire trip, that’s worth every penny.

But if you’re looking for ways to stretch your vacation budget without taking away any of the magic, this is one of my favorite tricks.

Tell me: what’s the souvenir you buy every single trip no matter how many you already own? 👇

Things I’ll never apologize for:

✨ Planning the trip.
✨ Taking the trip.
✨ Planning the next trip before I’ve unpacked from the last one.
✨ Buying the ears.
✨ Taking way too many castle photos.
✨ Taking a midday pool break instead of “maximizing every second.”
✨ Ordering the snack.
✨ Getting the souvenir.
✨ Spending money on memories instead of more stuff.

And as a travel advisor…

✨ I’ll never apologize for telling a client NOT to spend more money than they need to.
✨ I’ll never apologize for recommending the trip that’s right for your family instead of the one that’s trending on social media.
✨ I’ll never apologize for telling you to slow down and build in a rest day.
✨ I’ll never apologize for being brutally honest about what is and isn’t worth the extra cost.
✨ I’ll never apologize for treating your vacation budget like it’s my own.
✨ I’ll never apologize for getting ridiculously excited when my clients make lifelong memories.

I’m also never apologizing for being “too much.”

Too passionate.
Too excited.
Too invested.
Too magical.
Too Disney.
Too Universal.
Too obsessed with helping people travel better.

The truth is, I don’t sell vacations.

I sell the picture you’ll frame.
The story you’ll tell for years.
The laugh you’ll remember long after the credit card bill is paid.

So yes, I’ll wear the ears.
I’ll take care of the trip.
I’ll tell you when the upgrade isn’t worth it.
And I’ll absolutely celebrate your vacation like it’s my own.

Because life’s too short for someday, and I’m in the business of turning someday into confirmation numbers. ✨

What’s something you’ll never apologize for?

Let’s talk about the Disney Dining Plan.

I get asked about it all the time, and the honest answer is this: it’s not automatically a great fit for everyone.

It can be amazing, but only for the right kind of traveler.

So who is it actually good for?

The dining plan works really well for guests who:
• Want a true “all-inclusive” style vacation where most of the food is prepaid
• Plan to do a lot of sit-down meals or character dining experiences
• Don’t want to think about budgeting meals while they’re in the parks
• Enjoy snacks, treats, and want to use credits for fun extras like Mickey bars and specialty drinks
• Like structure and knowing what’s already covered before they arrive

For those guests, it can feel like a stress-free way to enjoy dining without constantly checking prices.

But here’s why I don’t recommend it for all of my clients:

For many families, it ends up being more food than they actually want or need. You’re often “spending” credits just to use them, even if you’re not hungry. It can also lock you into more time-consuming meals when some days you just want quick service and to get back to the fun.

It can also be less flexible for families who like to explore dining casually, share meals, or take the day as it comes.

And the biggest thing I see? Some people assume it will save them money, but depending on your dining style, it doesn’t always work out that way.

That’s why I don’t automatically add it to anyone’s package. I build it around how you actually vacation, not what sounds easiest on paper.

Sometimes the dining plan is a win. Sometimes paying as you go gives you more freedom and better value. My job is to help you figure out which one fits your trip, not sell you something you don’t need.

If you’ve ever wondered whether it’s worth it for your family, I’m happy to break it down for your exact trip and dining style.

Hot take: Sometimes Disneyland is the better choice for young families.

I recently told a client with little ones to skip Disney World and head to Disneyland instead.

Before the Disney World fans come for me, hear me out.

At Disneyland, everything is close. The two parks sit right across from each other, so you’re not spending precious vacation time on buses, boats, monorails, Skyliners, or marathon walks just to get where you want to go.

Need a midday break because someone skipped their nap? No problem. Many hotels are just a short walk from the parks, even off-property Good Neighbor hotels. You can be back in your room, recharge, and return to the magic without losing half your day.

And parents, you’ll appreciate this one: it’s practically a “never have to fold your stroller” destination. No constantly unloading kids, bags, snacks, and souvenirs to board transportation. Just park, stroll, and enjoy.

The weather is another huge win. While summer in Florida can feel like you’re walking through soup, Southern California tends to be much more comfortable with lower humidity and cooler evenings.

Plus, Disneyland packs an incredible amount of magic into a smaller footprint. Many of the attractions are closer together, making it easier for little legs and tired parents to navigate. Less walking means more rides, more snacks, and fewer meltdowns.

Disney World will always have its place. If you’re looking for four parks, water parks, resorts, and a longer vacation, it’s amazing.

But for families with young children who want convenience, flexibility, and a little less stress, Disneyland deserves a spot at the top of the list.

Sometimes the best vacation isn’t the biggest one. It’s the one that’s easiest for your family to enjoy.

Would you choose Disneyland or Disney World for your young kids? Tell me which side you’re on in the comments.

🌈 Happy Pride Month! 🌈

One of the things I love most about both Disney and Universal is that they create spaces where people can show up as their authentic selves, celebrate who they are, and feel a sense of belonging.

The LGBTQIA+ community has helped shape the magic, creativity, and joy that so many of us experience in these parks every day. From the cast members and team members who bring the magic to life, to the guests creating unforgettable memories with the people they love, Pride is woven into the heart of these destinations.

As an ally, Pride Month is a reminder that everyone deserves to feel welcomed, celebrated, and seen. Travel has a unique way of bringing people together, and some of the most magical moments happen when we embrace and celebrate our differences.

This month, and every month, I celebrate love, acceptance, and the incredible LGBTQIA+ community that helps make both parks, and our world, a brighter place.

🌈 Everyone deserves a little magic.

How are you celebrating Pride this month? ❤️
