We're absolutely floored by the pictures our team member Diane is sending our way!

Now on their 8th day the crew traveling the Cotswold Way have wandered woodland paths, summited Cleeve Hill which on a clear day you might see as far as the Brecon Beacons in Wales, visited Painswick Rococo Gardens, and explored the walled enclosure commemorating the Battle of Waterloo. Four days and a million sights left !

And they’re off! 🥾

Our Cotswold Way trip is officially underway. On Tuesday they gathered in Broadway Village, often known as the Jewel of the Cotswolds, with its single charming main street, bordered by wide grass verges and lined with stately chestnut trees. Day two and three saw them explore Broadway Tower, climbing Shenberrow Camp and back down through wooded paths and grassy fields, and wander the Stanway Estate with its medieval tithe barn and Jacobian manor house. We can’t wait to hear what they discover next!

Say hello to Diane, on of our beloved guides, a self-described minimalist, and a true exploreer. Diane is about to head out for our 2026 Cotswolds Way trip, and we snuck a qiuck look at ther pack before she heads to the airport! Along with her day pack, she is using a Cotopaxi bag that doubles as a duffel, fits in the overhead bin, and holds everything she needs, with separate compartments to keep things organized.

Items she never forgets? Headlamp, sturdy boots, full rain gear, light-weight water bottle, quick-dry layers and a hat that’s seen more treks than she can count! We love sending our guides off. Good luck, Diane; we’ll be following along from home. What are your can’t-miss items? Comment below!

Our Corsica group is wrapping up, and the smiles say everything!

This “mountain in the sea” is full of pristine Mediterranean waters, chestnut forests, and villages that feel untouched by the passage of time. Our group scaled mountains, wandered through forests, and traversed an inner network of trails that crisscrossed from coast to coast, and opened up a landscape that few take the time to explore.

If rugged coastlines, dramatic mountains, and sparkling ocean views sound like your kind of trip, Corsica might just be calling your name in 2027. Or explore similar adventures you might love: our Provence walking tour offers gentler terrain, but is just as breathtaking, Dordogne On Foot is full of riverside villages and incredible food, and the Tour du Mont Blanc for those who want the full alpine experience.

Field Report

It finally feels like hiking season is underway around here at FieldHouse. We’ve had our heads down the past few weeks triple-checking trip logistics, finalizing trail notes, mailing final packets, and sending travelers off in all different directions.
Our Japan group wraps up tomorrow after nearly two weeks walking the ancient Kumano Kodo pilgrimage routes, soaking in mountain onsens, traditional ryokans, shrine visits, forested trails, and probably more sushi and ramen than anyone can count. Meanwhile, our James Herriot Way group is just setting out into the Yorkshire Dales for long walking days of bucolic pastures and stone villages, followed by evenings of good food, tired legs, old pubs, and the kind of company that forms out on the trail. Just as one group heads home with full hearts, another saddles up for the start of their own adventure. That’s the rhythm of the season around here.

If Japan has been quietly on your radar, join the waitlist for our October 2026 Kumano Kodo adventure. Otherwise, keep your eyes peeled — we’re already working on the 2027 season and hope to release it in a few months.

There’s a lot of uncertainty in the air. Moments of reflection and concern can make the day-to-day feel a little heavier, the chores and rhythms of everyday life a little more confining. It’s tempting to pick these moments to retreat within ourselves, to stick close to home, and choose a path of less resistance. But we find that in times like these, expanding our horizons is more important than ever. We recently put to paper some of our thoughts on why travel is so crucial to our experience of the world and of ourselves, and why now is the perfect moment to take a leap and embark on a new path. Visit our blog and hear why we think putting one foot in front of the other is a balm for the soul. Link in bio!

While we don’t offer them every year, we collectively have over ten trips in France, a country whose range of experiences are wide and deep. There are the soft, rolling lavender fields of Provence, the rugged alpine hiking of the Tour du Mont Blanc, and the cypress-lined vineyards of the Dordogne on foot. No matter where your travels take you, one thing is for sure. In France, food is a philosophy. Check out our most recent blog post on the food culture of France and discover what culinary delights await you on the trail. Hope you’re hungry! Link in our bio.

Hard to believe we’re halfway through May with Memorial Day just around the corner. If you’re craving a bit of a mental reset or some time away from the demands of a busy schedule, we have a few trips in August we’d love to round out.

> Iceland's East Fjords — Aug 15-23
Explore the remote side of the island, whose untamed beauty and stunning wildlife make for a breathtaking experience.

> England Dales & Lakes — Aug 20-28
One of our more relaxed trips, the unhurried pace through the Yorkshire Dales lets you soak in England’s stunning countryside.

> Haute Route — Aug 25-Sep 5
A more strenuous hiking trek through the Alps, whose rugged peaks harbor views well worth the effort.
