Field Report
It finally feels like hiking season is underway around here at FieldHouse. We’ve had our heads down the past few weeks triple-checking trip logistics, finalizing trail notes, mailing final packets, and sending travelers off in all different directions.
Our Japan group wraps up tomorrow after nearly two weeks walking the ancient Kumano Kodo pilgrimage routes, soaking in mountain onsens, traditional ryokans, shrine visits, forested trails, and probably more sushi and ramen than anyone can count. Meanwhile, our James Herriot Way group is just setting out into the Yorkshire Dales for long walking days of bucolic pastures and stone villages, followed by evenings of good food, tired legs, old pubs, and the kind of company that forms out on the trail. Just as one group heads home with full hearts, another saddles up for the start of their own adventure. That’s the rhythm of the season around here.
If Japan has been quietly on your radar, join the waitlist for our October 2026 Kumano Kodo adventure. Otherwise, keep your eyes peeled — we’re already working on the 2027 season and hope to release it in a few months.
