Cats are also bad for mice control. E.g. New research from the University of Florida has shown that cats will reduce a mouse population’s size by as little as 1%. Which could have been a random chance in the studies. And nothing to do with the cats21. As it was not statistically significant. This is because they tend to coexist with mice. Or mice will simply alter their behavior to avoid the cats.

High above in a swaying coconut tree stood Milo, a lean orange cat with sharp eyes that glimmered like fire. Milo was an adventurous hunter, always climbing the trees around the village to keep an eye on birds and little lizards. But that day, something unusual caught his attention—a snake coiled tightly around the trunk, its scales shimmering green under the sunlight, blending almost perfectly with the palm leaves.

The snake hissed, tongue flickering, daring Milo to come closer. The villagers below gasped as they saw the standoff. A cat and a snake, both predators in their own ways, now shared the same narrow battleground of the tree.

Milo crouched, his tail swishing like a whip. With a sudden leap, he landed closer to the snake, claws out, swiping at its scaly body. The snake recoiled, striking back with lightning speed, narrowly missing the cat’s ear. The two spiraled around the trunk, one with slithering coils, the other with agile leaps and sharp claws.

At one point, the snake tried to wrap around Milo’s body, tightening with deadly force. But Milo twisted, biting down hard on the snake’s tail and scratching with his back claws. The snake loosened its grip just enough for Milo to escape.

With one final lunge, Milo pinned the snake against the rough bark, claws sinking deep. The snake writhed, then finally fell from the tree, landing with a heavy thud in the grass below before slithering away into the bushes, defeated.

Milo stood tall on the branch, chest puffed out, eyes glowing with victory. The villagers cheered, tossing bits of dried fish to reward their brave feline protector. And from that day on, Milo was no longer just the village cat—he was the guardian of the coconut trees, keeping danger away from those who lived below.
