Starting this summer, Durham-based is officially taking the reins at the Rocky Mount Brewmill, bringing its plow to pint mission to Eastern NC. This means more small-batch, farm-driven beer, plus new adventures in Southern-sourced wine, cider, and non-alcoholic beverages.🌾🍷🫐

Fullsteam’s expansion strengthens the Brewmill’s decade-long mission as a craft beverage incubator and deepens connections between Southern farmers and local makers, an amazing fit for both Fullsteam and Rocky Mount Mills!

Downtown earns national accreditation again from Main Street America

The City of Rocky Mount announces that downtown has been designated as an Accredited Main Street America program, the highest level of recognition awarded by Main Street America. This prestigious accreditation acknowledges Rocky Mount’s exceptional commitment to preservation-based economic development and community revitalization through the nationally recognized Main Street Approach.

Each year, Main Street America evaluates programs across the country, and downtown Rocky Mount met all rigorous performance standards required for accreditation. These include community engagement, strategic programming, inclusive leadership, sustainable operations, and a clear track record of measurable impact.

“Achieving accreditation through the Main Street America program is a significant milestone for the City of Rocky Mount. This designation reflects years of dedicated work and a clear priority set by our City Council to revitalize and strengthen our downtown. Their vision and commitment have driven our progress, and this recognition affirms that we are on the right path toward creating a vibrant, thriving city center that benefits all of our residents and businesses,” said City Manager Elton Daniels.

Tanika Bryant, downtown development manager, added, “This achievement represents a collaborative effort and shared vision for a downtown that’s not only beautiful and historic, but also economically resilient and welcoming to all. We’re proud to be part of a national movement that’s shaping the future of downtowns through revitalization and innovation.”

Accreditation places Rocky Mount among an elite group of 821 programs across the country recognized for excellence in revitalizing their downtowns and commercial districts.

According to Erin Barnes, President and CEO of Main Street America, “The continued impact of our network shows that the Main Street movement remains a powerful force for positive transformation.”

As an Accredited program, Rocky Mount strengthens its position within a national network known for generating economic growth, building community pride, and creating places that reflect the people they serve.
