Sup Kentucky is a top-rated Stand Up Paddling and Kayaking adventure company. We offer eco-friendly tours throughout Kentucky as well as a limited number of international trips each year. Sup Kentucky's most popular adventure is our Crystal Kayak and SUP Glow tour, which takes place in the heart of the Red River Gorge. ear SUP boards or crystal clear kayaks. Colorful glowing LEDs and headlamps light the way through the pitch-black cave and reveal the natural wonders of the underground. Our Kentucky adventures also include river, lake, and stream tours. Sup Kentucky aims to make SUP paddleboarding accessible to everyone! Every trip we offer gives you the chance to explore beautiful surroundings, enjoy the great outdoors and hone your Sup paddling skills, of course! In addition to the Crystal Kayak and SUP Glow Tour at the Gorge Underground, we offer SUP tours at Cumberland Falls. Check out cascading waterfalls (above ground and below!) and discover the secret cove at Grayson Grotto. All tours are beginner-friendly –– no prior knowledge required. Our team members are highly skilled and extensively trained. We’ll teach you everything you need to know before you get out on the water, and we’ll be there to guide you along the way. Our international trips provide the opportunity for smaller groups to have the experience of a lifetime. We plan our trips meticulously and our goal is to curate an itinerary that allows our guests to fully immerse themselves in different cultures and experience new foods, customs, and activities. ✅ The Gorge Underground is a mine — not a cave. You won't find any stalactites hanging from our ceiling.

✅ On our glow tours, the kayaks and paddleboards are completely clear. (Guides are typically on solid paddleboards.)

✅ There are colorful LEDs on each kayak/paddleboard as well as some accent lighting throughout the Underground. This makes for a dreamy glow and great pictures. However, the effect is a bit more subtle than the generated image.

We're thrilled that more people are discovering the Underground, but we think it's important to know what to expect — especially when the destination is so naturally spectacular! ✨

A brief history of The Gorge Underground 🔦

What we know as The Underground today began as a surface mine in the 1800s. It was converted into an underground mine in the mid-20th century after works used dynamite to blast out the tunnels.

Around the 1980s, the miners struck aquifers, and water began seeping into the passageways. Not long after, the mine was shut down and remained out of use for about 30 years before being repurposed into a one-of-a-kind paddling destination. Some of the old mine equipment still remains!

Because the water in the mine comes from aquifers, the water levels remain very stable with only minor fluctuations over long periods of time. 😃

A Crystal Kayak and SUP Glow Tour is a MUST for any KY road trip. ✨ This one-of-a-kind adventure is a top-rated activity that draws visitors from all over. Because it's so popular, we strongly advise booking several weeks ahead of your trip to ensure that you snag a spot. (We're already booking into July! 😳)

If you have the time, we recommend spending a few days exploring the Red River Gorge before or after your tour! There's so much to see and do in the area. Paddle, hike, climb, zipline, eat, drink, and get to know one of Kentucky's hidden gems. 💎

Sure, there may be snow on the ground now, but spring is right around the corner. As soon as the weather warms up, busy season begins in the Red River Gorge.

Crystal Kayak and Sup Glow Tours fill up fast — especially on weekends. We know how disappointing it can be to find out we're sold out during your trip. Saturdays and Sundays sell out months in advance. Weekdays fill up weeks in advance.

We offer Eco Friendly tours of KY and the surrounding states. Our goal is to introduce people to the fast growing sport of SUP, stand up paddling. Our specialties are Rivers, Lakes and Stream tours. We offer adventure Sup Tours at Cumberland Falls, Grayson Grotto and the Gorge Underground in Slade, Kentucky. All tours are beginner friendly.
