Our plans were shuffled today when our port day in Grenada was cancelled due to a sudden storm, which means our kayaking excursion was canceled.

If you have a scheduled tour that is cancelled it’s important to know the terms & conditions as well as the cancellation policy for the tour you’ve booked.

For my clients, I can help them make informed decisions before they leave and know where to find the info they need of this happens on their vacation. I’m here to help, support, and guide.

Has this happened to you? What did you do?

What a year 2025 has been! I’m so grateful to all of my clients for making this my biggest year yet as a Travel Advisor! Thank you all for trusting me with your precious PTO time and your memories.

This was also my first year to be able to attend professional conferences and met so many amazing colleagues who are so generous with their expertise and “team mindedness”. Thank you for your kindness and friendship.

2025 included a lot of personal travel to mostly new places:
Austin—-Jennifer and brisket, I love you!
Orlando and Sea World
Mexican Riviera cruise
Dominican Republic
NYC
Virgin Voyages to Bermuda
Kenya—-my 5th continent and 1st safari

I can’t wait to see where 2026 takes all of us! Happy New Year and Happy Travels! 🎇🍾🥂

This is not a zoo. I repeat—this is NOT a zoo! Safaris are a unique and incredible way to experience nature in the wild. Raw and untamed.

Unlike zoos, where glass and fences separate you from animals, here in Nairobi National Park, just minutes from the urban skyline, you’re on *their* turf and it’s not a show. Predators stalking. Herds migrating. Everything is happening in real time, right in front of you.

Here we got to witness 3 out of “the big 5” (lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and buffalo) and so much more! This park is not large enough to house elephants and leopards are difficult to find, but to see a lioness stalking Zebra, giraffes grazing, and hippos yawning made for an unforgettable day. We were honestly shocked at how many different animals we were able to see and we’re already trying to plan out another safari itinerary. We may be addicted, but it’s a problem I’m willing to risk. 😉

It’s hard to believe we’re home already. This will definitely be the first of (hopefully) many trips to Africa.

Our last service day was a sweet one with our final widow visits and a trip to a juvenile detention center. No phones/cameras are allowed there, so no pictures to show, but listening to these boys’ stories of abuse, abandonment, and false accusations were heartbreaking, but they find hope and help in Jesus, which gives them a vision of a future in freedom.

Afterwards, we went to a local coffee shop and I had the most delicious peppermint mocha ever!

Finally, we ended with Cultural Night. Our friends at Swahiba Networks treated us to a huge buffet dinner with a live band and dancing. Our DJ and Kenyan dance lessons were so much fun and we ended the evening with blessings and professional Kenyan dancers. It was so much fun and so kind of them to throw us such an amazing party!

Our safari deserves its own post so follow along tomorrow for the final installment!

I’m a firm believer that travel should always change you. Maybe it’s a trip where you unwind and do some self reflection; or maybe it’s a trip for learning or serving. This is a learning and serving trip.

Today was our first full day serving in the Kibera slums outside of Nairobi. Our group has washed the feet of local children and provided them with new shoes; both of which are a luxury since you must pay to shower here and without shoes, they are at risk of injury and infection. The joy in their eyes when they receive their shoes is just amazing!

We’re also doing VBS every day for local school groups. We dance and sing, play games, have a Bible story, and do crafts. At my craft station they’re decorating picture frames. Most of these kids do not have a photo of themselves, so we are taking their picture and printing them out they’ll have one to keep at home in their frames. They are so excited to get to have this special gift to take home.

These kids are so incredibly sweet, kind, and well behaved! They have nothing. Most of them are wearing clothing that is 3 sizes too big or too small, and their clothes are full of holes. Yet, they are so joyful, grateful, and they really take care of one another.

We ended the day with home visits to widows, delivering food and hygiene packs. I have no pictures and I’m not sure they would be appropriate anyway. I have worked in refugee tent cities before and that was hard. Those tents seem like palaces compared to what I witnessed today and I don’t mind telling you it broke me. I held the hand of a 70-something woman who lives in a hovel that’s about 10x12sq ft. No bathroom, no kitchen. Her family has abandoned her and she misses them. The ministry here is caring for her.

Travel can give us perspective and remind us of what’s truly important in life. It is a privilege to be here and to serve people whom I might never get a chance to meet otherwise.

Have you traveled like this before? What was your experience? ❤️

New York, Pt 2: 6hrs in the city? Challenge accepted!

After arriving on Tuesday night and spending the evening walking Times Square and the theater district, we had about 6hrs to tour on Wednesday before boarding our cruise ship. So what can you do in 6hrs in the rain and on a limited budget? Walk. Lots and lots of walking. But we saw a ton!

We started the day with a ridiculously amazing bagel and coffee while we waited out the worst of the rain, then we grabbed our umbrellas and hit the pavement:

Central Park: We walked 3 of the 6mi of Central Park, stopping at Belvedere Castle, the Obelisk, and seeing the back of the Met. We were blown away at how the park makes you forget you’re in one of the biggest cities in the world. It was so peaceful, quiet, and beautiful. (For those of you that know me, you’ll understand my total devastation upon learning that the Met is closed on Wednesdays. Alas, I’ll just have to come back.😭😭😭)

Walking 5th Avenue: Seeing the Plaza, all the big bougie stores (Louis Vuitton shaped like an actual suitcase😂)

St Patrick’s Cathedral: This is a must see for its gorgeous gothic interior and beautiful music if you catch it at the right time.

The NY Public Library: This is a not so hidden gem! We saw A.A. Milne’s original Pooh toys, a writing desk of Charles Dickens’s, and an original engraving by Albrecht Dürer, in addition to its gorgeous interior. A must see for literary lovers.

Finished our walkabout with a NY slice of pizza before heading back to pickup our bags and heading to the pier.

We’re already planning an itinerary for a trip back. I’ll need to see it in full Fall foliage and Christmas, so there will probably need to be multiple trips. 😉

What would you suggest? What are your favorite spots?

Goodbye for now, NYC! We’ll be back! 🗽🌆🌉🏢🍕🎭🚢✈️

Good morning! After 2 days of rough seas, we’ve made it to Bermuda with a lovely rainbow to greet us. Hoping the rain holds off for our island tour. Stay tuned!

Also, I haven’t forgotten about our NYC pics. I’ll be posting those when we get back. Ship WiFi won’t let me post videos.
They’ll be out when we get back. ☺️

We only have a few short hrs in NYC before we take off on our cruise tomorrow, so we spent our evening walking Times Square and the theater district.

We’re exhausted but New York at night does not disappoint. We saw 2 celebrities in the span of an hour! Swipe to see Mariska Hargitay and a teeny tiny glimpse of Leslie Odom, Jr leaving the Richard Roger’s theater.

What are your “must sees” if you only have a few hrs in NYC?
