Round Lake Area Garden Club Join our club if you are interested in horticulture, permaculture, food forests, & edible gardening. Come for a visit; stay as a member.

The Round Lake Area Garden Club (RLAGC) was founded in 2016 as a program of the Round Lake Area Library (RLAL). The RLAGC decoupled from the RLAL to organize as a non-profit 501(c)(3) in 2023. We offer programs for beginning gardeners as well as experienced gardeners. The Club’s mission is to welcome all gardeners and foster friendships. We share knowledge and resources while encouraging interest

in and access to gardening. We strive to expand plant diversity, improve local ecosystems and increase food security. Our vision is to supply all gardeners with tools, knowledge and confidence to meet their gardening goals. We offer unique programs and projects that attract members from not only the Round Lake Area, but also throughout Lake County and Southern Wisconsin such as our Food Forest, Seed Library and Seed Sharing Events, and Plant Swaps and Giveaways. We hold Monthly General Membership Meetings and annual fundraisers such as a Plant Sale. . Membership Year: Commences January 1
Membership Fee: Annual dues are $10 (not pro-rated)

In-person meetings are held on the third Sunday.

LANDSCAPE for WILDLIFE: Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata) is also known as Maypops in recognition of its fruit which can make a loud sound when it bursts. This fleshy, yellowish, egg-shaped berry may be eaten by songbirds and some mammals. Hummingbirds and butterflies seek nectar from the flowers in the summer. This vine is also a larval host plant for some fritillaries and hairstreak and longwing butterflies.

It should be a beautiful weekend! Make it more beautiful with a couple of garden walks like this one and the one hosted by Grayslake Greenery Garden Club!

Please join us for our 2025 GardenWalk on Saturday, July 12! This garden provides a quiet place for those who deal with PTSD and features an area with memorial bricks. It also grows vegetables, berries and herbs in a small greenhouse and 10 raised beds that are donated to local food pantries. The site’s 23 fruit trees include a variety of apples, pears, peaches and plums as well as sweet and sour cherries.
