One of the most difficult things about living abroad…

Consolidating the fact that you now have two homes and at the same time don’t fully belong in either of them. Such a bittersweet emotion and one that I’ve felt pretty deeply since I moved to Iceland.

To be quite honest, I love both. And at the same time, both are very touristy. This is Iceland and it is what it is. 😂

Pros of Blue Lagoon:
- eerie Iceland vibes
- close to the airport
- great for arrival after a red-eye (since hotel check in won’t be available

Pros of Sky Lagoon
- a bit cheaper (not much)
- conveniently close to Reykjavík city center
- luxury spa vibes
- 7 step wellness ritual

Dinner cost in rural Iceland:

Iceland is not the same place as it was five years ago.

It’s become one of the most popular destinations in the world. There’s more tourism everywhere in the country..

But if there’s one hack I would recommend to be able to bypass the large crowds and tourism groups, it would be renting a camper van.

(Ad) We have been spending the summer out with Toyota Hilux Camper which is our new favorite travel buddy.

The beauty with camper vans, is that it allows us to bypass the tourism groups and explore on our own terms. We can be out on a hike at 9 PM whenever everyone else has left and gone to dinner or back to the hotels.

We can cook eat and sleep all in the same place, and then go out exploring late at night or early in the morning to get enjoy the nature by ourselves.

What do I do all day?

Try to build an empire…lol. My days are busy, but I wouldn’t trade them for anything when I get to live in this beautiful countryside paradise.

One thing I love about Icelandic culture,

Going to the store, picking up a pastry (or 3) and enjoying it over coffee on a weekend morning with friends or family. We always go and pick one up to have in the house in case people come over.

If you visit Iceland, I highly recommend trying some of our different pastries. You can get them at local bakeries or in the bakery section of any grocery store. Share them with friends over some coffee, and enjoy the moment.
