We are excited to launch our new AirBNB, the Lemon Street building. This home is located just 10 minutes walking to the best downtown has to offer. We renovated this historic home from the bottom up. The house is split into three units, a one bedroom and 2 studios. We tried to think of everything with separate yard spaces, extra soundproofing between the units, and fancy bathrooms. We will be bringing the different places online over the next month. Our first is open for business. It’s the Sea Turtle studio. This one is accessed from the back. You have your own yard with banana trees and an outdoor table. The studio has a microwave, minifridge, and Keurig. Check out the link above in our profile to see our places available to stay.

This weekend is one of the busiest for St. Augustine. We have a great fireworks celebration on the Bayfront. I would suggest getting there early and taking our lawn chairs. Fireworks begin an 9:30 but it would be best to get there at 8 or earlier to get a good spot. We would suggest bringing a picnic as the places downtown will be SLAMMED. Don’t forget to pick up some lemonade at our kids lemonade stand : )

In honor of the first nationally recognized we want to mention the extensive history with civil rights that St. Augustine has. From to the ACCORD civil rights museum, St. Augustine has many ways to explore the rich history that we shouldn’t forget. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. walked the streets, there were sit-ins at the Woolworth’s counter and swim-ins at the beach. A well documented incident at a local hotel happened when an owner of a motel put chemicals in a pool to prevent African-Americans from swimming there. Please explore the history of Civil Rights while you are here. A self guided walking tour pamphlet is available at the visitors center.

St. Augustine has some great beaches. One of our favorites is Vilano Beach. it’s about 5 minutes driving. You can park in one of the public parking lots or drive on the beach, if you have a pass. 4 wheel drive is a must. Take along our beach towels and beach chairs and spend a day in the sand.
