⚡ Look out for Portuguese men-of-war in the water and on our beaches! If you see a purple flag waving by the beach, that's St. Johns County Marine Rescue warning you they've been spotted. If they're washed up on the sand, keep your distance—those venomous tentacles pack a powerful sting even after death. Sea turtles, sea slugs, crabs, and certain fish will eat the men-of-war they come across.
